While they're probably just thinking that it'll resume on/after the 14th, they never cared about the users and founders like Aaron Schwartz and the former female interim CEO Ellen Pao. A bad IPO may cause them to restructure or have another investment company take it over.
It's highly probable that subreddits will continue to remain private. What's there to lose for them, users can continue doing other stuff. Reddit on the other hand is probably losing millions every day.
