No option to delete account?
I’m not feeling this app and would like to delete my account. There only looks to be an option to log out, what gives?

You can revoke Spyke’s access to your Google Account at the very least
https://myaccount.google.com/permissions
Yeah of course, but not allowing deletion as a standard seems sketchy at best. Revoking access doesn’t stop personal data being stored on these servers. No lawyer but seems to be a breach of GDPR to me.
We had a bug in the account deletion resolver that would cause the whole app to crash for everyone. Something to do with foreign keys. There's a lot of stuff to fix, and a lot of features to work on.
Email authentication and account deletion is currently the topmost priority, followed by fixing tech scaling issues.
That being said, we do not store any Google data on our servers since that's a breach of Google's Terms of Service. We only started with Google because it was expensive to build our own login system (sending emails for account recovery and all is really expensive, those large corporates have made it hard for us to compete)
This would be a very basic requirement for me before releasing it into the wild.
Despite the expense, it’s also a huge barrier to entry to more tech savvy folk. Also, not everyone has a google account, so there’s that.
Back when we were targeting only an Indian audience, everyone here has a Google account. I agree we should have done a more thorough survey on what the preferred login methods are before just building the MVP with only Google Login.
I remember when we were really short on funds, literally running the servers at ₹80/mo, and Google felt like the best option since it was free.
In hindsight, the one lesson we learnt is that shortcut solutions come back to bite hard.
Did the language translation stuff get shoehorned in then? Not that it’s a feature that I can see in practice.
Surely you must also realise the horrific reputation that India has with scams especially in the tech world. It’s very hard to trust anyone online these days, but it’s well documented how many blatant scams operate out of your country.
