I'm a little broke but I would like to gift my younger bro a used Xbox 360 or PS3 as that is the max I can afford.

Which one should I go for? Both are 8 years old

Go for the PS3 bro. Games are much better with exclusives like last of us. Games are also cheaper for PS3 and you can also jailbreak it very easily these days with just software.
