Can't tell what's worse, this or hearing the green goblin insult the fuck out of me 16 hours a day till I lose my shit eventually and try to blow up NYC. Probably the former by the look of this video...

Though I understand how someone could like it and there are a lot of aspects that I do enjoy. I absolutely hate this series (I've read up to the end of the vampire arc.)
I would absolutely love this series if they just made him aware of what was happening. I understand that that's the joke of it and also where ALL of the comedy comes from, but were introduced to this character who's spent his entire first life trying to become an "eminence in shadow" and when he dies and finally has the opportunity to do so, he's content with playing it for a game?!?!?!
It was literally his life purpose and he's chill with just RP? And then he gets dumb and stupid, and everything just happens to work out. If he was a character that had no intention of becoming an "eminence in shadow" then it would have been fine, watching them accidentally become one while genuinely trying to live a peaceful life.
But to watch a character who desperately wanted to become one for multiple lives, stumble along, "pretending," feels like they set up his core beliefs and intentions, and then the whole series only ever goes against them. Again, I enjoyed the fighting and the storyline (obviously without the inclusion of that very important detail) but man, I've never disliked a single anime character more than I dislike Cid.
