The transition from the holiday season back to the normal drudgery is so depressing. Is there any way to make Jan / Feb less depressing?

Late to the party but- new hobby. Take the holiday to look at creative hobbies and then narrow it down to just two or three and then by January you should pick one and hype yourself up and start buying things for the hobby. You don't need a lot for it in the beginning, but if you receive holiday money you can save it and put it towards said hobby. Sometimes just the excitement and planning and buying can be an experience of it's own to get you excited. Even if you don't stick with the hobby for whatever reason all the planning, buying, and trying should kill two or three weeks and maybe even inspire you to try a different one instead.

Often times my new years resolutions involve: Learn a new skill and/or hobby because I like to evolve my interests and experiences.

So maybe doing something like that could help? If you've ever gone "Hmm... you know I wanna try and pick up x" well nows a good time to do it.
