I work in IT and I refuse to get us smart anything. The closest I have is wifi on/off plugs for the AC unit as an accessibility accommodation for my wife, but I use them with the understanding that they could pull the app at any minute and make them useless

I prefer just using a raspberry Pi and building my own home automation. At least I can control it.

And my husband wonders why I refuse to get anything bit a straight normal plug in the wall no net no Bluetooth printer.
