I wonder if this type of life is an indication that life might exist on other planets in the solar system using similar sun free energy consumption.

It is considered “proof that life CAN exist on other plants” just as our existence is prof that life like ours can exist on other planets. It’s not radical except that it expands the number/type of planets that we could hope to find life on.
