Don't be shy to report if you think something is wrong on a flight

So I was reading about this case where a passenger noticed a bunch of ice building up on the wings and told a flight attendant about it, thinking they'd pass it on to the captain. The flight attendant just brushed it off, saying the captain prob already knew about it and had everything under control.

Plot twist: Captain had no clue about the ice situation.

Plane ended up stalling and crashing, which goes to show you should never just assume the crew know everything.

Funny side story - a buddy of mine who works in aviation once saw some dark liquid leaking out of an engine on a flight. He reported it to the cabin crew, but they told him it was normal and like, always happened, and basically just shrugged it off.

But when he mentioned who he was and what he did for a living, their attitude changed real quick and they went running to the captain. After they landed, mechanics swarmed the engine. Turns out there was a broken seal and the engine could have shut down if he hadn't pointed it out. Not that the flight would crash, most planes can fly just fine with a single engine.

TLDR if you see something sketchy or out of the ordinary on a flight, speak up. Even if there's a chance no one listens to you, it's better to try and save your life and the lives of others on board!
