The 3 most underrated Naruto characters in my opinion

Hey there, fellow Naruto aficionados! I hope this clan appreciates discussing ninjutsu, battles, and our love for the fantastic world of ninjas! Today, I wanted to share a bit of my personal appreciation for the Naruto series. Out of the countless amazing characters the show brought to life, I have three absolute top favourites who still have a special place in my heart. They had me hooked through their personal experiences and overwhelming emotions, and I believe they truly contribute to the uniqueness of the Naruto series. I find these characters don't be getting the same fanfare as the protagonists so here's my take on it. (Personal opinion disclaimer)

1. Hatake Kakashi

I'm pretty certain that my love for Hatake Kakashi won't come as a surprise to many. After all, he's not only one of the most popular characters in the series but has captured the hearts of millions with his mystique and fantastic story development. Kakashi first took us by surprise with his laid-back demeanour, even as he simultaneously guided and terrified Team 7 with his clever tactics.

As the story progresses, we see the many layers of Kakashi's persona, and his background unfolds beautifully, creating a strong connection with the viewer. Especially striking is his emotional and heartbreaking past, making us appreciate his resilience, and the impact of his relationships with Obito, Rin, and Minato. Kakashi's enigmatic journey, combined with his superb skill set, intelligence, and loyalty, cements his place as a memorable Naruto character.

2. Gaara

Ah, Gaara! What an intense, complicated presence he brings to the series. Gaara was initially introduced as an antagonist during the Chunin Exams. At the time, his appearance and behaviour sent shivers down our spines - his chilling gaze, the merciless use of his sand-controlling capabilities, and an insatiable craving for blood.

However, slowly but surely, Gaara's tragic childhood is revealed. Reminiscent of Naruto, Gaara grew up ostracized and hated due to the monster host inside him. But, unlike Naruto, he gave in to the hatred, which ultimately led to a self-destructive, painful existence. His eventual redemption and transformation, plus his beautiful friendship with Naruto, make Gaara a complex and admirable character. The pain of his past, and the balance he finds in the present, are both heart-wrenching and inspiring.

3. Nara Shikamaru

Okay, so maybe Shikamaru isn't the flashiest character in the series. What sets him apart, you may ask? Well, instead, he's brilliant in subtle ways. Shikamaru could be seen as lazy and indifferent at first glance, but his genius-level intellect and exceptional strategic planning truly set him apart. He consistently shows his capabilities as a leader, with his calm demeanour and innovative ideas in challenging situations.

Additionally, Shikamaru's friendships and understated emotional development are one of the highlights of the series. His bond with Asuma is a beautiful example of how Naruto seamlessly ties emotions, camaraderie, and mentorship. The way Shikamaru deals with grief, matures, and develops a sense of responsibility propels him into my list of favourite Naruto characters.

I kinda found shikamaru underrated tbh. I prefer his persona over Naruto. If given the choice I wouldn't mind watching a series where he is the main character.

Yeah I’d say those are well rated characters. An underrated character imo is Yamato/Tenzo, he’s badass.

Also Konan, the chick with Pain that had the paper birds

Even Ten ten. The only time she was relevant was that filler episode where we see her dream

Underrated means they deserve to be rated higher though, and I think tenten was probably rated correctly
