Collaborative Games are fundamentally Solarpunk
As the title says, I would like to highlight that collaborative games are fundamentally solarpunk.
As a solarpunk who is very into boardgames and a longtime collector of collaborative games, I would like to highlight the often-missed benefit of collaborative games: they teach us how to organize in a manner that is fundamentally based on principles of mutual-aid.
This is in and of itself solarpunk, as we are learning how to live in a different, and better, society than the competative based one we currently inhabit. Collaboration is something which we need to learn in order to reach a sustainable society both for humans and with earth. In the process we unlearn competition, a form of organizing which is kneeded into us after years of capitalism and "survival of the fittest" mentalities, from the market to the games we play in school and online.
Collaborative boardgames teach us how to exist and organize in ways which are fundamentally transformative and post-capitalism.
