The front page of Lemmy is mostly posts from 2-4 days ago. I can see people getting bored/not bothering to check back if it's always the same posts on the default sort.
I have bookmarked my subs, but the "new user" experience isn't great.

There was a lot of money floating around, fueled by exuberance. Not sure that could have ever lasted.

need to be forced to curb their spending to make things more affordable
How? Students are choosing more expensive places. The market is driving this.
