Wow thanks for posting this. I read the whole thing but what I'm not getting is the fact that their started concern is apks "side loaded". This is aimed directly at the foss community as normal people already won't I stall anything outside of the play store. No non tech enthusiasts go straight to git hub ...

I'm not really understanding. I buy a phone. Peter codes and app with foss tools and emails it to me. No copyright or anything bad like a to do app. I want to use said app on my purchased phone. Now Peter will have to show his license and stuff? I guess developers are criminals.

Well I think we are such a small percentage of users that care that it probably does not matter in the grand scheme. I just got on android in 24' when rcs started working because my large family network was always worried they would lose communication with me. Because you know the little green text bubble things don't get pictures and stuff from non iOS... People have no clue and don't care as long as the phone works to swipe on sorry videos

Makes sense. Is Google play store just apk files as well? I thought there was some other special sauce with it as well besides just running spyware in the background. This all sounds like a good way to get full names for YouTube add less app makers...

in 2030 GNU/Linux will surely have 90% Market share of desktop computer operating systems (the other 10% beig BSD, RedoxOS and other FLOSS *nix systems)

I dunno sort of have the opposite experience, up until this year I used a 2015 MacBook I found at a relatives house and Linux installed. Got me through college until I finally caved in and got a used thinkpad(13th gen) for $350. Phones are a whole different ballgame where as I can all day get a computer decent enough to use for $100. New phone ended up costing me 400 for enough storage

I tried Mac os and I thought it was cool until I got docker and it made me make an account. It also in order to change things in the desktop environment you had to pay for apps and I'm cheap. Windows is annoying to me after being on Linux for so long even if they have wsl. My computer broke and I ended up needing Linux to make an old MacBook we had work again is the only reason I switched originally. Developing software I appreciate that the ide and terminal are super convenient to use. Normal people for Linux.... Nope. Getting my Bluetooth to work was a 3 hour journey. Normal people use their PC that much in a month where as I use mine 12 hours+ a day.
