We should push other phone OEM's such as Fairphone and Samsung to work with PostmarketOS, GrapheneOS, and Ubuntu Touch
A Fairphone with GrapheneOS would be the tops

Banned Mullvad VPN TV ad criticizing United Kingdom escalating censorship and mass surveillance “And Then?”
Asking genuinely: do people still use Mastodon? It boomed briefly when Musky took twitter but for whatever reason, people decided to go to the data harvesting, ad filled blue sky. I never got either of them but have been recently thinking of mastodon but assumed people don’t still use it.

Looking for Thoughts on Email
For me, yeah, it sucks knowing if you send an email to a gmail user then your message is in google still. But, I take comfort in knowing I’m not signing into or using google myself. Just be aware your emails aren’t protected at all. I agree with the other commenter - use whatever is convenient. Emails are never a very private communication form, either way. I also use proton but have been a bit conflicted since they continue pushing AI integration and I’m not pleased knowing my money is helping fund that for them.

Travelodge Says ‘Free Palestine’ Greeting on TV Screen Was Antisemitic
If anything, it’s antisemitic to equate the Jewish people to Israel and pretend criticizing Israel is criticizing Jews. I’m an american and I am strongly opposed to the things happening here as well as in the UK. But that doesn’t mean I by default hate americans/Brits because I am against what the governments are doing. That’s really dumb.
Some liberals here in the states are also conflating them to the point where they say progressive candidates running with the platform that they are not accepting money from AIPAC is antisemitic. It’s mind boggling to me how one comes to these thoughts.

“Here’s my email” isn’t any kind of a relationship though. 800+ contacts means you need to go through and delete unnecessary/unused contacts. Of which there are hundreds.

Kind of like how a lot of the same people who were screaming and going crazy about the Patriot Act 20 years ago are the same ones who want to defend Flock cameras.

Adios, Amazon Prime

I think if you connect your prime video purchases to something like Movies Anywhere or vudu/fandango, a lot of them transfer over so I think in theory you could delete your account and keep those purchases elsewhere but I’m not 100% on that. But this is one of many reasons why I’m a huge supporter of physical media.

SmartTube — an Open-Source Alternative to the Official YouTube App on Android TV (Security Update Included)
Reply in thread
It wonderfully does! And as the other reply states, it also can automatically skip over paid promotional segments and “remember to like, comment and subscribe” stuff. It’s wonderful. You can also customize those settings and skip or not skip whatever bits you want. For example, I turned off a setting that would skip “non-music portion” of music videos. That was a tad annoying to me. But it’s the only form of youtube I would use on my tvs. I can’t stand constant ad interruptions on youtube.

Looking for a Non-Chromium Browser That Actually Works

I have been using LibreWolf since they recently put out a statement about no AI implementation and I adore it and wish I had started using it sooner. I spent longer than I needed trying out different browsers and never quite finding one I like a lot.

If someone who wasn’t inconceivably wealthy had created it then they probably would have been arrested by now.

Zack Polanski declares two-party politics dead after Hackney mayoral win
As an american, I am genuinely curious: are there really that many people in England who are looking over here and saying, “That looks good. Let’s do that”? I don’t understand why Reform is making such huge gains.

Universal basic income needed to cushion blow from AI job losses, says UK minister
Reply in thread
Just like here in the states, I have talked to a lot of people who firmly believe universal healthcare is not possible here because we can’t afford it. The brainwashing from the people in power with all of the money telling us we can’t have basic things is pretty crazy.

Is there a good blog or website or thread anyone knows of that is specifically dedicated to app/website/software alternatives that do NOT implement AI?

Graphene already has a partnership with Motorola now so the assumption is some time (I’ve seen 2027 speculated) we may get a Graphene Phone from Motorola. Mixed feelings about them partnering with a company like that but we’ll see how it goes. I still keep thinking about finally getting a secondhand pixel 10 so I can switch to Graphene from apple.

My reply definitely seems more rude than I meant it, upon re-reading. Apologies! To each their own. I think the thought of having 800+ contacts just seems overwhelming and cluttered to me. I’d go crazy if I had that many lol
