What's up with Popular New Releases?

I like checking on Popular New Releases to see what's trending in a given week, but it just does not do that anymore since a handful of weeks ago. It's showing entries from all the way back in 2020, ones that have – as far as I checked – not even new DLC.

There's several decently sized games I've just not seen launch because the feed is.. broken? It's probably but broken, I assume this is intended, but why.

If you happen to know what's up with this, please do tell. But I mostly just want to complain I guess. I can check my Steam release calendar but that's hidden behind several menus. Sigh.

Formatie

[~solved] Missing Aerox 5 support

Despite the website listing the Aerox 5 as a supported device, the application appears to be missing it. Even though it does show the Aerox 3 and 9. Any idea why this might be?

I am on Bazzite, and used Gear Lever to install the appimage of OpenRGB.

Nevermind, it turns out the version the Bazzite Portal Setup installs (ujust install-openrgb) is outdated. Downloading the AppImage from the OpenRGB website itself fixed it.

Further edit: it doesn't seem like it is able to truly save the colours to the wireless mouse, as it resets after it goes into stand-by. Maybe there's some method to continuously run it; but, unless I'm missing something, it doesn't seem the wireless variants are properly supported. Through RivalCFG I was able to turn the default lighting off (sudo rivalcfg -d off), rather than the rainbow it is by default.

Gallery app with tags and OCR

I am still holding onto my S22 for a while yet, but I am looking for something non-Samsung as my next device (probably Fairphone).

Whilst I think I can do without most of Samsung's features, I do really like the gallery app and what it offers. Background OCR so I can search for text in an image, and manual as well as automatic tags. The built-in editor is also nice, but there are alternatives for that.
The main reason I like using manual tags and OCR is for quickly sharing memes I've saved over the years.

I have resigned myself to losing the tags I've already created, as it doesn't seem those can be exported. But I have yet to find a gallery app in which I can slowly start rebuilding my set.

Here's some of what I've come across:

  • Google's gallery is not an option for me. I want to move away from big tech.
  • Aves supports tags, but is very laggy to use and has no automatic OCR/tags.
  • PhotoPrism doesn't support OCR.
  • Ente doesn't do OCR or manual tags.
  • "Gallery" looks promising, but does not yet have the feature set I'm looking for.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?
