"We entered the face of an animal and different names.

MTRCB calls out distributors of film ‘Third World Romance’ for use of profanity in trailer

The Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has summoned the distributors of the movie Third World Romance after an unedited trailer was posted without the agency's approval.

MTRCB pointed out that the trailer of the film, which features lead stars Carlo Aquino and Charlie Dizon, is being shown in cinemas and online despite one of the characters uttering profanity.

The scene in question comes at the end of the almost two-minute clip, where Dizon's character, Britney, is depicted to be on the phone with Aquino's character, Alvin, only to discover that her phone's battery has run out.

On Wednesday, August 16, the MTRCB, through its chairperson Diorella "Lala" Sotto-Antonio, issued a "Notice to Appear and Testify" to the movie's distributors, citing the distribution of an "unclassified and unrated version" of the trailer that featured Dizon using the expletive "ptng n".

Ayaw malubog Las Piñas! Cynthia Villar warns of SC battle over Manila Bay reclamation projects

Senator Cynthia Villar plans to take developers involved in Manila Bay reclamation projects to the Supreme Court over fears that these would cause massive flooding in her bailiwick, Las Piñas.

Citing forecasts, Villar said Las Piñas might be submerged in at least six feet of water once the reclamation projects are completed because floods will have difficulty flowing through Manila Bay.

“I’m taking them [to the Supreme Court.] If they don’t revise [their plan], we have no choice. Will I allow my hometown to be submerged in a six-foot flood?” she said.

“If they continue with the reclamation in our part of Manila Bay, there will be no outlet for our four rivers. It was predicted that there will be six to eight meters of flooding. Six meters is a three-story building,” Villar added.

The wife of the Philippines’ richest man, Manny Villar, said the Senate Committee on Environment and Natural Resources, which she chairs, will conduct an investigation soon about the reclamation projects in Manila Bay.
