Please, Kill Emails (and Phone Numbers)

The adjective 'federated' is often used for these protocols. There are federated protocols other than email: XMPP, Matrix, ActivityPub, etc.

Are we likely to receive ability to log in on 2+ phones?
Securely sharing end-to-end encrypted messages between devices is inherently difficult, especially combined with device verification. Note the 'secret chats' of Telegram are not shared across devices.
As far as I know, Matrix is the only network that has solved this problem. It even has cross-signing and federation.

There is a payment option inside the app. It uses Stripe to process the payment.

Textise - removes everything from a webpage except its text (and links)
That could be very useful when using a text-based web browser (e.g. TUI)

Discord Alternatives?
There is also Element Call at call.element.io. I have not tried screen-sharing but it's worth a look.

SMS Forwarding
It might be possible with the Modular Android XMPP Service. I have never used it, so cannot help much. Nevertheless, it seems to have modules to notify of received SMS over XMPP. It may even be possible to send instructions to write a SMS.

Best approach to selfhosting Synapse (Matrix)?
Reply in thread
From what I read, using anything but Synapse requires to compromise on features/compatibility. I know this is not the dev's fault, it's from the way the Matrix spec evolve. Do you know of any resource regarding the current features/compatibility of tuwunel/conduwuit? I am particularly curious about:

Skype Replacement for Small Business?
If you are not looking to selfhost, how about a Matrix provider?
For example, etke.cc has offers from 15 USD/month. There are plenty of options, see etke.cc/order
I am not affiliated with them, I just happen to have heard of them because they are well-known and have an excellent reputation. There are others. See e.g. matrix.org/ecosystem/hosting

It's in beta, but it's already quite usable. You can try it without account on a public instance e.g. at call.element.io

Good text-based calendars for Linux?
Reply in thread
I have seen many different ways to achieve that in Emacs. Do you have one to recommend (modes, packages)? Do you synchronise calendars with other devices (e.g. smartphone, server)?

What puzzled me was that I had no option to input a TOTP. The website would only send me a notification through the Wise app to allow the login.
I have just discovered that the waiting screen on the website had a small, clickable text 'Did not receive a notification?' that leads to other options, including TOTP. That's so much better!
Thank you, I would never have discovered this if you had not said that this was possible.
