PieFed born because of political differences (Lemmy devs are China fanboys and banned many persons, including in Github). It's not my experience and knowledge but all know it.

PieFed has improvements in efficiency (images and general things). More modern but new. Lemmy has more community. Probably, in the future Lemmy 'll migrate (for huge advantages) but not today.
