GetUp launches $400k Trump-themed anti-Hanson campaign in Farrer

Giving links in comments, as the title comes from a News Corp article, and the GetUp page doesn't contain that $400k claim.

GetUp - Stop One Nation in Farrer (page has the ad video^[YouTube]^ and a description of the campaign)

We’ve just finished producing a new TV ad that could defeat One Nation in Farrer. It’s called Trump’s War, and it showcases the links between Trump and Hanson in light of the recent fuel crisis. Test results from the electorate show that 41.4% of persuadable One Nation voters changed their mind after seeing the ad.

If One Nation wins Farrer, it will be a huge boost to their momentum and could change the political map of this country – and pave the way for Pauline Hanson as PM. But if we stop them in a seat they're leading, in the regions they claim to own – we break their momentum and their story.

Here's what your donation will help fund:

  • Keeping our hard-hitting TV ads on air across the electorate exposing One Nation's real record and links to Donald Trump
  • Digital ads targeted at the persuadable voters who will decide the race
  • Billboards in key locations across the electorate so no one misses our message

news.com.au - GetUp launches $400k Trump-themed anti-Hanson campaign in Farrer

The campaign centres on the populist leader’s affinity for Donald Trump and links her to the rising costs that rural voters are most vulnerable to, including fuel and fertiliser.

The campaign also purportedly seeks to debunk the One Nation leader’s claim of “standing with everyday Australians” by pointing to her voting record on health care, age pensions, child care and corporate tax cuts.

“ … her political support comes from some of the wealthiest and most powerful interests in the country. And her record in power tells a different story,” the campaign website WhoisHanson.com reads.

GetUp aims to spend at least $600,000 on the anti-Hanson campaign by the time the polls close on May 9. The funds so far raised were donated by the organisation’s active membership base, which grew by over 100,000 people last month alone

The Workers’ University (1940s) - People's History of Australia [Podcast]

In the 1940s, the Communist Party of Australia was approaching the peak of its power as the largest and most influential left-wing organisation in Australian history.

The Communist Party of Australia demanded far more of its members than an average political organisation. To be a communist, you were expected not just to become an activist and an organiser, but to read and study deeply, and to understand often complex theoretical texts. And so with thousands of new members flocking to it, the Communist Party established one of the most ambitious systems of adult education ever seen in Australia – the Marx Schools.

Based in several capital cities, the Marx Schools ran from 10am to 10pm every day of the week, and offered CPA members and sympathisers extensive, in-depth courses in socialist and Marxist theory, in the practicalities of union organising, in how to chair meetings and give public speeches, in anti-fascism and women’s rights, and in art, economics, philosophy and literature. With a pedagogy far more advanced and participatory than most universities, and in an era when most Australians had no formal education beyond age 13 or 14, the Marx Schools taught thousands of workers how to both understand the world and how to change it.

To discuss this remarkable experiment in Australian adult education, we’re joined in this episode by Bob Boughton, a former academic and social worker who’s done extensive research on the Marx Schools.

Boughton’s PhD thesis about adult education in the Communist Party of Australia:

Requesting a community for discussing socialism in Australia

edit: changed proposed title to /c/aussocialism. Thanks Zagorath!

There are a few users on here, including myself, who discuss socialist politics. While some topics are interesting and relevant enough to post in other news and politics communities, others might only be interesting to other socialists, such as updates on local political organisations, discussing how theories apply to our economy, or drier historical questions. Consider /r/AustralianSocialism for some examples.

This community will be strictly for Aus/Oceania-specific posts, as there are plenty of communities on other instances for general memes, overseas politics, etc.

Former NSN members spotted in a bloc at the ongoing March for Australia protest

This comes after recent laws and advice from the former NSN leader to avoid associating.

UPDATES: (newest to oldest)

[photograph of a lone shoe on a footpath]

Solidarity to everyone that attended invasion day and focussed on de-escalation.

Today is a day of mourning, not antifa bravado.

That being said, two overly confident newbies to creatine and weights attempted to storm through the rally, assaulted multiple blackfullas and migrants unprovoked and tried to take some Aboriginal flags whilst yelling antisemitic and racist nonsense.

These two rodents sharing one brain cell, lost said shared brain cell when community self defence ensued.

After a bit of night night time on the intersection opposite flinders station, reports suggest their faces looked completely altered and one was missing a shoe.

We care about lost and found here, if this is your shoe please contact us with your full name, contact information and a picture of the other shoe so we can complete the pair.

Thank you for your attention on this matter.

P.S the lost boys of the NSN lost more boys 😢

We have been advised there are 20+ former NSN members at the front escalating to violence and shoving/intimidating random civilians on the march now hitting La Trobe

https://t.me/AFAAlertsNaarm/16

They are headed north up Elizabeth street

[Former] NSN have taken point of the MFA

As expected, this is an NSN rally and they have not disbanded as a group

https://t.me/AFAAlertsNaarm/14

“Former” national socialist network members are all at flinders in a bloc associating at flinders for MFA.

Names include but aren’t limited to:

  • Ian Lomax (disgraced former dentist)
  • Ethan Hendren
  • Will Casdorff
  • Zeke Hatfield
  • Dylan Garnett

And many more.

Many of them were present at the attack on camp sovereignty but seemingly not all charged for the very clear involvement they had.

Stay safe.

The NSN have chosen Sydney for their yearly "Nationals" gathering on 24-26 January.

::: spoiler Telegram message (similar to image text)

The National Socialist Network have chosen Sydney for their yearly "Nationals" gathering on 24-26 January.

Antifascists, unionists, community groups, activist groups and all concerned members of the public should be aware that upwards of 200 neo-Nazis and their supporters are intending to turn up in Sydney between January 24-26, including the racist "March for Australia" rally on January 26. You can't let this go unchallenged in your city.

Groups should begin organising, coordinating together, and making plans for supporting the Invasion Day rally and Yabun festival if they haven't already.

Keep an eye on the Anti-Fascist Alerts Sydney channel https://t.me/antifaalertssydney for further information over the coming weeks, and follow The Blak Caucus on social media for updates on the Invasion Day rally.

We've included some social media graphics to help people spread the word.

Sovereignty never ceded. No room for racism. :::

Get the word out to the public. These violent neo-Nazis cannot be tolerated, and Sydneysiders need everyday people to be involved if they want to keep their city safe.

White Rose Society - "Do you know these nazis?"

Saturday November 8 2025, NSW National Socialist Network (NSN) members held an antisemitic rally outside NSW Parliament House under the banner of “White Australia”. Their photographs have been generously forwarded to our team by members of the community, and although we have an impressive inventory of details already, we are now appealing for more information about these men.

Does one of them work at your workplace? Has one of them given you a haircut? Trained at your gym? In classes with you at school, TAFE or uni? A known gronk in your local music scene? We're particularly interested in those working with government contracts or the legal sphere, and with access to major infrastructure, but any tip-off, no matter how small, helps.

Share it around. The more people we ask, the better the odds we can protect communities from these neo-Nazis.

It's also worth pointing out that at least two of them were interstate (Vic, Qld).

"March for Australia 2: smaller, whiter" - A summary analysis of the recent fascist protests

  • Yes, the major city protests were run by known and open neo-Nazis. Yes, the designated speakers were consistently and explicitly advocating European/"White" supremacy. These are pro-fascist protests by design, and it's concerning that many people didn't recognise the previous one for what it evidently was.
  • They are planning to run a third March for Australia rally on 26th Jan, and other similar far-right/fascist protests have been planned between now and then. And if we don't continue to grow the counter protests and stamp this out like last time, the fascists will keep escalating.

Booby-trapping racists in Adelaide (video in post)

Blinded by racism.

Article: https://www.theguardian.com/australia-news/2025/oct/20/peter-drew-aussie-posters-adelaide-anti-immigration-march

As the article mentions, the most famous poster in their series is of Monga Khan. Wikipedia mentions:

Because Khan arrived in Australia prior to the introduction of the Immigration Act 1901, better known as the White Australia policy, when he wished to return to India he obtained a Certificate of Exemption to the Dictation Test (C.E.D.T.) which proved he had been domicile in Australia before 1901 it enabled him to leave Australia and be re-admitted on his return

They're Marching for Australia again. We're countering again.

Counter rallies countrywide are being held on October 19th. Share the word. Bring as many friends as you can. Numbers are our strength.

Journalist Tom Tanuki gives an outline of the fallout following the "March for Australia" in August, reiterates that the protest is primarily organized by self-professed neo-Nazis and white nationalists, discusses a couple of the state organizers, and notes that the NSN are falsely claiming they won't be attending this one, which in reality simply means they won't be in uniform, just like last rally when they claimed they would come in uniform and most members were privately instructed instead to come in plain clothes.

Here's Tom's reupload of their copyright-striken video summarising the NSNs tactics, including having members as official marshals and having members work as plainclothes confederates to feign regular support, as well as highlighting some of the resistance to the NSN by duped M4A speakers and attendees, and by antifascists.
