I currently have some thoughts about the possibility of using a big external USB SSD as storage device. In my Situation it need to live in both worlds, my main work laptop (Ubuntu based dis.) and on a random desktop with Win11.

Filesystem wise I`m currently thinking of choosing exFAT because of the simplicity of the FS. Another option would be NTFS and just mount it in Linux, but 2/3 of the time I will use it on my Linux system. So any downside here?

Data is mostly some Media stuff and ML Stuff I experimenting with, so could be very large files (llm models).

Is there any downside on using exFAT like reliability? Most sources state that exFAT was developed for mobile media like SD Cards and USB Sticks. In my case it will be a 2TB SSD :p On the other Hand how is the recent implementation of NTFS into Linux?

And the final thoughts is about Encryption; This seems unfortunately the actual issue, I want to have a partition on the drive which is encrypted somehow but can be mounted in both worlds. Is there a easy way to mount a LUKS on Windows? Or alternatives which lives in both worlds?

I do not need military grade ultra encryption, there are no state or company secrets involved, I just want to have a security measure when the device is lost / stolen that one can not just mount it.

I was thinking about maybe just using a VeraCrypt partition on it.

I recently had to deal with a bunch of Gaming Consoles (PS5 + Xbox) in a network. In the past I always go the UPnP route for them to get their "NAT Type 2" (open nat) achieved. Recently we had them sitting on to 1000 Series Cisco ASA with a standard NAT. No UPnP and I was a bit surprised why and how Cisco manage that all the consoles can achieve NAT Type 2 without upnp.

Normally when the console request a fixed port to test the nat capability and is not flexible with that. So external port rewriting not working. This is where UPnP steps in and rewrite. But on the ASA Configuration was nothing else then the default cisco NAT involved and it was flawless.

Anybody with more Cisco experience than I can shine some light on that for me?

Suche für temporäre Installation wie kleine Veranstaltung / hackathon irgend ein selbst hostbaren Service / Script was es erlaubt PDF an eine Mail zu senden die dann automatisch ausgedruckt werden. Alternativ per web interface.

Soll einfach Ausdrücke erlauben ohne den Drucker einzurichten oder auf airprint o.ä. Zu setzen.

Lösungen die ich bisher gefunden habe waren alle zu komplex und eher der Abrechnung her oder Autorisierung.

mal eine Frage in die Runde. Wir nutzen für eine Gruppe von leuten (um die 20 Accounts) aktuell eine o365 Premium subscription damals mal über Domain Factory als reseller eingekauft. Ist immer ein wenig günstiger als MS direkt.

Könnt ihr mir einen DE MS Partner empfehlen der auch kleine Lizenzen dynamisch verkauft? Oder wie macht ihr das?

Ich würde mich ungerne auf feste Jahresverträge bei MS festlegen da die Anzahl der Leute über das Jahr schon mal schwanken kann und hin und wieder auch Mitarbeiter für nur 2-3 Monate dazu kommen.

Bei DF hat man ein Frontend in dem man einfach Lizenzen zubuchen oder abbestellen kann.

Grund wieso ich dort weg möchte ist das es immer öffters nicht mehr richtig funktioniert und man wieder sich mit dem Support rumwarten muss.
