It is very funny imo that according to my nail polish diary, my first manicure of 2023 was cirque colors pony up, and in the brand new year of 2024 I open the festivities by wearing dark horse by mooncat -- another brown, horse themed polish. What can I say? they're both great!! Although the formula here finally lived up to mooncat's infamy. Very gloopy, needed so much thinner right out of the gate, and I don't think it was enough. OK so it's almost NYE, we're doing sparkles. I couldn't quite decide what to put on my nails so I went for an assortment -- cirque disco ball, which I thought would be more of a topper so almost never wear, topped with holo taco disco dust which is more what I expected out of disco ball tbh; then Essie gel couture caviar bar on it's own, topped with disco dust and topped with holo taco freezer burn. My mooncat order arrived recently and after spending a couple of hours with the most mish mashed of skittles I decided to do a full manicure with midnight rider. It's really lovely!! I do think I could get a similar effect layering elixir of everlasting life over a black polish to get this strong blue shimmer and scattered holo; but it wouldn't exactly have the same depth as this black jelly base, so I don't regret buying both 😅 alt text: a hand showing nail polish: a dark base with strong blue shimmer and scattered holographic glitter
