Compendium of Warframe 3rd party resources

I don't recommend Overframe for anything other than sharing builds to people you know. The builds are usually out of date or badly un-optimised, and the community meta rankings don't have proper time-weighting and thus are also out of date, in addition to corresponding mostly to the official usage stats.

If you want weapon builds, I think the youtuber Gamble is a much better resource. He's not opinionated, he provides optimised builds, and he covers various levels of resources from newbie, midgame, and optimised.

Lotus's Choice (New War)

I picked Natah, but I can see the argument that Lotus is the "best" choice, because it's ultimately the result of Lotus individuating and making her own identity; from a place of being a fake Margulis, and the legacy of the Sentient's alien wrath against the Origin system.

That said, I picked Natah for two reasons. First I like RPing as a Sun Tenno because I think Sun makes some interesting bad choices. On one hand it's a heroic disposition, but it has the rough edges of wrath, recklessness and brashness. By my own personal morality for example, I think the Sun choice at the end of Glast Gambit is pretty monstrous, but a natural consequence of the flaw of impulsive wrath. From that, Natah is a natural extension of those flaws, albeit also with the Sun disposition's incredible potential to do good in the Origin System.

I also picked Natah because a big theme of the story up to that point seemed to be getting the Lotus back, and restoring Natah specifically seemed to be restoring her to a state before anyone else had really meddled with her identity and personal narrative. On reflection though, there are definitely two Natahs, the first being the Sentient warrior during their first incursion, bearing the dreams and goals and culture of this Sentient vanguard; the second being an imposition by her grieving and wrathful family in Erra and Hunhow. Still, I personally view Natah as a return to an original state, shaped by family and culture, and this is really important to me as a diasporic person from a very family-oriented culture.

I also like the complete moral incoherence between Natah and the end of Glast Gambit, lol. Adds a lot of flavour to how messy the Sun disposition is, and adds to the slight hint that Sun is a bit of a classical tragic hero; within the constraints that the Tenno aren't allowed to make catastrophically bad decisions.

Kullervo + Breach Surge = Pain²

He really needs some kind of gating mechanic, because I think it's a bit rich to release a frame that can't go too far past 5 waves of SP Circuit when that's currently the big farming activity. Unbelievable they'd double down on Inaros as a design paradigm given how many issues the endurance crowd highlights with poor beetle boi.

Build recs for solo Isolation Vaults

Recommend a Silence tank too, like Nezha or Revenant. I actually farm them on Banshee, since they seem to be susceptible to Condemn, and she stops their invuln mechanics with Silence. She can also remove Bonewidow's armour, but not Voidrig for some reason.

Stropha has the nice property of being able to hit the back weakpoint through the front of the mechs. Grattler's radial effect also seems to have this property, if you have your own mech.

Harrow: Shields or Health?

Honestly hard to ditch anything from his kit since it's all really good. This is a blessing and a curse. He's always going to struggle with Noxes and Infested. I guess you could build heavy Efficiency and ditch Thurible (and Tribunal) for Silence for an anti-Infested build, but I feel dirty even thinking that. VS Grineer, Unairu helps compensate for getting ganked by Noxes.

Anyway, since he has 2400 Overshield you don't need to build for shields at all. Once you get Adaptation, the shield generation off Condemn will let you tank basically anything, especially on top of shield gate + Covenant. If you want an infinite scaling build, Rolling Guard gives you an extra invulnerability buffer, or you can just run Vazarin and keep Adaptation so you never have to swap around.

Good melee weapons that don't rely on combo

Light attack spam weapons to get you through the regular star chart? You'll want anything with big range and high damage, so like slide attack whips, light attack and slide attack heavy blades, polearms.

Some picks:

Stropha is the highest light attack DPS weapon in the game, and it has punchthrough, and you can build it as a heavy attack weapon or a 12x heavy hybrid later on when you have mods.

Broken War is free and strong, and a Corrosive build will carry you all the way to SP. Run and slash, things die; very good.

You can do regular Circuit for the Duviri melees. Edun is great right out the gates.

Kuva Shildeg is a gigantic meat mincer and good all the way into SP.

Mirage or Saryn?

I have two answers.

The first: fun factor.

Saryn is a great weapon platform that you can slap any weapon on and buff the heck out of. She can also spread spores that constantly degrade enemy health while they get in range of your guns. She's great at every level of enemy durability, from star chart to long Steel Path runs. On scaling content, Saryn lives and dies by Molt and shield gating, although she's very tanky for the first couple hundred levels.

Mirage is an evasive and parkour-based frame who necessarily locks you in to weapons with big hitboxes, radial effects, or homing and autoaiming capabilities, due to how her clones can't aim. As long as you like moving a lot, I find Mirage a lot more chill on SP because I very rarely have to shield gate. Having to constantly be aerial and moving might be more taxing for some people though.

Having played both, I like Mirage a lot more. She's one of the funny number frames of all time. I can't argue that Saryn has some of the highest kills-per-minute potential in the game, though.

The second: functionality and numbers.

They both have their uses. Mirage can potentially balance personal power and party support with a range-based Total Eclipse build. I find she has a bit of a comfier pace due to the inbuilt evasion from Hall of Mirrors and her passive parkour boost. Both are good SO/ESO focus farmers.

I think the tie breaker is that Saryn can be built as an infinite scaling ability nuker for SP Circuit, whereas Mirage lives and dies as a weapon buffer.

Any good saryn builds? I need help.

If you need help shield gating, Condemn is always nice. Also lets you run high-efficiency builds since it doesn't require spending energy.

Saryn has baked-in CC through Molt, so you could also reasonably run Pillage to boost your Spore and Toxic Lash damage. Also recommend the Mecha set since it spreads your Spore damage with a heavy multiplier. Ditch Miasma since you don't need it for Spore spreading once you're at SP levels.

Also, if you don't want to go past say 200-300, running the Fractured Blast or Lycath's Hunt helminths alongside of Health Conversion and optionally Arcane Blessing will turn any frame into a tank. Lycath's Hunt is good if you have a strong melee and are running low range or strength, which eat into FB's energy economy.

Another popular option is Gloom, since it causes your Spore damage to heal you. People will also run Contagion Cloud to put more DoT effects on the field for even more healing. Since Saryn is already really durable, this lets her healtank and adds to her CC kit.

I don't get the Zarr...

Now that enemies aren't ammo pinatas any more, and due to the reduced AoE radius, Zarr and Bramma (and Ogris) both have ammo starvation issues that you specifically have to build around. Envoy is the only radial weapon that really escaped unscathed, and you can also use Tombfinger since it has a battery. Tombfinger is fairly weak and spammy though, with a single shot charge mechanic like OG Ogris.

If you had to pick a character to remove from the game forever, which character would it be?

It makes me angry for Valkyr that they nerfed Hysteria, then turned around later and buffed Revenant's Mesmer Skin; and her claws can't slash while Garuda gets better Valkitty Klaws due to being the only exalted melee in the game that gets acolyte mods.

Excal still has a place in being the funny number melee frame. Nobody else gets to stack as many melee buffs as swordy boi.

What are your favourite low-usage frames?

Reply in thread

Equinox is another frame I started playing more for Fashionframe related reasons. For lowish level scaling SP I actually have a Peaceful Provocation Fractured Blast tank, extremely good CC and survivability. Otherwise I have an Energy Transfer Pillage build for the funny Maim nukes... I also need to finish working on a Calm & Frenzy/Energy Storage build.
