Cool feature for Wallpaper of the Day that I just noticed

I've been implementing the default "Picture of the Day" plug-in since forever and using that for my wallpaper.

Its fun, changes the image often; there's a small element of excitement each day to see what the wallpaper will be today. There have been a few times where I have been repulsed. But the norm seems to be pleasantly surprised.

There have been a few times (many more than I've been repulsed) where I've been wowed and wanted to save the wallpaper.

~/.cache/plasma_engine_potd/ for anyone who's interested

In those times I've wanted to get some more information about the image on my desktop and I haven't been able. Searching online produces weird results; searching for taht specific providers potd also doesn't always work.

Anyhoo, I just noticed that if you right-click on the desktop, third from teh bottom (for me) there's an "About x" option (where x is the name of the image of the day).

That's a super cool feature. One that I really appreciate.

I don't know when it was introduced (over the past year I would guess), but very helpful.

Just sharing it for others who might find this interesting.

What instance of Lemmy would you recommend to use, lemmy world or something else?

I'm still trying to get used to Lemmy; the main thing confusing me is the federated bit.

I just want to access Lemmy and its content; how do I do that? Currently I'm just going to old.lemmy.world and using that as a starting point.

Is there another instance you would recommend as the default one?

The two main reasons I ask are:

  1. I want to know if there are things I am simply missing out on and there's a better way to browse Lemmy.

  2. I really don't like cloudflare and have it disabled in Javascript. I don't want to leave it enabled for lemmy.world.
