Germany's record 44 man squad
Klopp announced two squads for the upcoming Nations League matches with a record 44 players. Some real nominations out of left field in there. I suppose Klopp wants to take a look at a wider range of potential players available to him.
I read Gianni Infantino’s name-dropping, despot-fluffing book so you don’t have to
I'm sharing this article here, so you don't have to read Johnny's apparently incredibly self indulgent book.

Paderborn promoted to the Bundesliga as Wolfsburg relegated
Just for context: Wolfsburg has a budget somewhere around 200 million Euros while Paderborn has about 40 million Euros. Wolfsburg is wholly owned by Volkswagen and any losses by the football club will be covered by the company. Paderborn meanwhile is fully 50+1 compliant and therefore fan owned. While I don't care about Paderborn at all, this is still an amazing achievement and an overall improvement for the Bundesliga.

What an amazing game. While Real Madrid did typical Real Madrid (or even Spanish?) things, they deservedly lost this vers entertaining match. It would have been even better if the Real players hadn't spent so much time whining, complaining and harassing the ref. The red card was just pure stupidity and I just can't understand how anyone is complaining about that.

It really happened. Spurs are currently on course for relegation. I'm neither a fan nor do I really have anything in particular against them, but it would simply be hilarious to see the 9th richest team according to the Deloitte Money League play in the Championship.

Especially Manuel Neuer (at 40 years old!) really had a strong showing in this match. It's obviously still open and a lot can happen in the second leg, but Bayern take a good result back to Munich and will fancy their chances of winning a two legged match against Real Madrid for the first time in over a decade.

So many new precedents with this tournament. Will this be the end of the blanket tax exemption deals of old? I can't imagine any serious country agreeing to tax free status for a world cup now that the US has shown that it's unnecessary. Perhaps Saudi Arabia and the likes might still go along with granting large exemptions, but I honestly can't see Brazil or France or other strong and serious football nations doing that now.

For the third consecutive time Italy missed out on a world cup. If I'm not mistaken their last match in the knockout stages of a world cup was the final in 2006, which they won.

At this point Spurs probably have a higher manager turnover rate than win rate for home matches. It would be truly hilarious to see them in the Championship next season.

Joan Laporta is back as Barcelona President. With all the financial juggling he's known for, I'm curious to see which "levers" he will find this time to sell future earnings for present day cash. Then again, the members voted for him, which is so much better than what most English clubs get to enjoy.
