John Roberts Begs the Liberal Justices to Stop Criticizing the Court

Holy crap this is endgame. The head of the judicial body is too concerned about the feelings of the body?

So, just logically. I have a personal commitment and value to something. And somebody gets mad at me about it. My values and commitment should be able to withstand that? Yes? As soon as someone has a different opinion it's like "I can't bear to hear a different opinion (clutches pearls) and I can't stand to have my opinion critiqued"

For you and me and the lady in the checkout line (and I say that as a lady who is often in checkout lines), that's great. But this is the head of the judicial body of one of the most powerful nations - most powerful democracies - on earth. These are opinions that shape the lives of 300 million people at least. And he's gonna be there for another quarter of a century.

Like how many steps is Roberts from a kind of de facto chilling effect, and I'm not trying to be funny

Thank God for the generations who hear a public figure try to corral or control a situation and then begin to act in doing the exact opposite. Definitely need to remind the conservative justices that there are people out here

End rant (for now)

Growing my instance

Going a little bit different direction than some of the other responses, I feel like hash-tagging (wait that's called something else now...?) content is important in helping people to find you in searching. And I'm thinking of search as a particularly important function as platforms like this are growing.

I see posts that are heavily (15 or more) tagged.... that may not even qualify as "heavily" out here in the fediverse, just something new to me.

Been thinking about this a little bit and how I can personally lean into it versus my own insecurities. So this is a way for me to exercise self-promotion.

Can I block posts about Reddit?

Huge mood.

I am trying to make the best of it. I realized that I don't really need to read every post in the migration threads. I can't fix the situation and everyone has to make their own personal choice.

I usually stay in my subscribed feeds and can dodge the majority of it

Not to disrespect peoples feelings, it's a situation with a lot of valid emotions in the face of crap

What's the easiest way to subscribe to a new magazine?

If you are on mobile, there may not be? That dialogue at the bottom of the page I think it's supposed to be in a sidebar

In one of the settings there are a lot of menus / side bars that you can turn on that are off by default, it took some digging for me this morning to put all of that together

The mobile browser experience especially on iOS is not great but I know an app is coming

Why Kbin insead Lemmy?

Frankly I have trust issues lol. I wasn't sure if I wanted to do the thing that most people seemed to be flocking to. And kbin seems to have more features and is already its own thing, already has an identity, isn't trying to replace an existing social media channel

Happy here so far
