I don't really think it's bizarre. Sex crimes and consensual sex are two very different things. The issue here is that some people seem to be facing consequences that last a lifetime for 'crimes' that seem pretty insignificant. But if someone raped another person you'd expect them to face consequences even if they are underage when committing the offence.

I am still furious about Brexit on a personal level. Freedom of movement was amazing. It meant that I could just decide to go live and work in an EU country whenever I wanted. I had previously used this to spend a couple of years in Spain and maybe a year in France. I'd been planning a move to Portugal when Brexit took this away from me. All those opportunities gone because of dumb fuckers who didn't even realise we had them. Ignorant bigoted wankers. Goes without saying I voted remain. I'd be delighted to rejoin, and if it means we adopt the euro that's fine with me. It won't happen for at least a decade though, and at my age that'll be too late for me.

I suspect they're looking into ways to keep their staff loyal, they'll be considering things like controlling the supply of an addictive drug, implanting behaviour modification chips in their brains, explosive collars, holding their kids hostage. Shit like that. Because why else would anyone be loyal to these vermin?

Yeah same here. I used to comment on reddit multiple times a day, I comment on Lemmy maybe once or twice a week. There's just not as much here that inspires me. It's okay, though, and I'm reading more books.

That is a bit further down the path they've started down with criminalising abortion. They've got to decriminalise violence against women before they can actually start burning them. They're getting there, though.

AMA used to be a pretty big draw for lots of people who didn't regularly use the site and often made international news, but they fucked that right up.

It's after school, which is a smart move - there are probably some working single parents who are delighted to have a couple of hours of free child care.

I mean, people paid to attend trump 'university'. There are always plenty of fools who will buy stupid shit. I kind of feel sorry for the students though. Most people are pretty young at university age and many are still forming their perspectives. Getting away from home and meeting new people is an important part of this. Plenty of people from conservative families go away to uni and start to see that they've been brought up on bullshit. This is an attempt to stop that from happening - the 'anti-woke' shit will attract more conservative students which will reduce the chance that any of them will encounter different views and cultures so they stay in their ignorance bubble. Don't want little Johnny or Jane coming home from school an anarchist! It's sad for the students though who will come away in massive debt with a useless degree and have less opportunity for healthy change.
