Welcome to Astral Projection!

Reply in thread

Hello,

Do you mean which guides to Astral Projection?

I read The Illusion of Method by Mark Gurriaran. I'm currently also looking at his second book, Astral Projection without tears but it seems like it may just go over the same ideas as the first. He mentions a number of different of methods only to arrive at the conclusion that achieving AP is not an act of conscious will but simply about setting an intention to do so and being open to it occurring.

I haven't been successful yet, whether by trying a few of the traditional methods or the "No Method" method. I find that my feelings of expectancy and anxiety about it actually happening tend to hold me back. I'm also not sure if the feelings I have gotten so far when I seemed closer to achieving something were real signals or just my subconscious creating it's idea of what exit signals would feel like.

Welcome to Astral Projection!

Nice to be here, I am new to Lemmy and new to Astral Projection. I have been attempting for the past few weeks and reading up as much as I can on different methods and astral experiences. I'm interested in learning as much as I can about this phenomena and integrating it into my life as a means of overcoming my fear of death and understanding more about our purpose here.

I'd like to experience AP because I have had an intense fascination with and fear of death most of my life. I have alternated between extreme skeptical materialism to a more open minded curiosity and nascent idealism. So primarily I simply want to know if consciousness can exist outside of the body, if we go on after we die.

Next I want to understand what life can possibly be like as a disembodied consciousness, or an astral bodied consciousness. Does life outside of the body have a purpose or is it purposeless? Can it be mundane or boring? is there some ultimate spiritual goal? is there a comparable social and community life?

I guess you could say I am interested in the anthropology and sociology of the afterlife.

Welcome to the community and thank you for sharing your experience.

Thanks again for the input, very interesting perspectives and ideas.

I'm trying lots of techniques without success yet, although I get all sorts of odd sensations. I may settle on the "No Method" method and just set an intention before a daytime nap and see what happens.

I look forward to being able to share my own experience some day, for now I'm just intensely interested and researching the experiences of others.
