The Albuquerque City Council at its Monday meeting again voted in favor of moving forward with building a New Mexico United stadium at Balloon Fiesta Park — however, it is taking steps to address traffic concerns in the area.

Putting this up a few days before I normally post a pre-match thread in case anyone is thinking about buying tickets. I'll write something up a bit later this week. Anyone attending in person? How are plane prices?

If you know of any watch parties around the state, reply and i'll update the post.

Guess what**?!** New Mexico is on the road again for match against Las Vegas Lights. Las Vegas has lost their last three, including a 6-0 loss to Charleston last week. This season, Las Vegas has a new look at home. Gone are the money drops and mini pools, and instead they have proper ad boards. Which brings a more serious look to their organization. Expect a serious response to their previous week's loss as well.

New Mexico also experienced a loss last week, snapping a three match win streak. Yesterday NM signed defender Abdi Mohamed, which should add some more depth in the defense area. I'm curious if the club is also looking to sign anyone to play where Nava would be?

Are you watching at home, at a watch party or on the road (shout out to all the away supporters, lose your voices!)

Let's go!

Are you attending in person, or watching stream? What are the odds that the stadium location is called out on the stream as being Albuquerque?

After last weekend's disappointing result against Charleston Battery, New Mexico heads to Arizona to take on the 2023 USL Championship playoff champions, Phoenix Rising. Interesting enough, to win that championship match, Phoenix had to beat Charleston in penalties.

Like many USL clubs, Phoenix had some churn in the off season. Players like Danny Trejo (scored 19 goals in 2023), Manuel Arteaga (15 goals), and Carlos Harvey (6 goals) have left. Phoenix also lost much of their backline due to transfers and retirements. All these transfers predictably have resulted in a rough start to their season, with two losses and a win.

This is an opportunity for New Mexico to shake off the 4-0 loss and move forward with their season. Of course New Mexico also had loads of churn. So neither club is gelling yet. An away away in Phoenix will however be a good way to set the tone for the rest of the season.

The Referee for this match is Alexis Da Silva. Alexis has been showing yellow a lot this season with an average of 7.3 yellows per match (three matches). It is worth noting that in the 2023 season, across 24 matches he only showed a second yellow once, and never gave a straight red.

What are your predictions for this match? Are you attending in person? Are you taking the bus with other New Mexico United supporters?

SOCCER IS BACK

T-minus 24 hours (ish) from this post. Are you ready? If you have ignored posts since last season, check the roster thread to get your self updated of all the changes. Pete is flipping cooking pancakes at the pre-match tailgate, soooo FOOOOd! Remember to arrive early enough for a home opener flag.

As of right now, seats left on Seatgeek seem to indicate the potential for a packed house:

If attending, what are your plans? Are your vocal cords in good working order? Planning on starting any new match day traditions? What pre-match song are you getting pumped to?

I say again, ARE YOU READY?

SOMOS!

That decision by a hearing examiner will now force a city panel to re-vote on changing the Balloon Fiesta Park master plan. Back in November, the city approved a change to allow a soccer stadium there, but the city realized it made a mistake. “There are certain folks, certain property owners that did not get notice of this matter,” said Chavez.

2. Will the match end with 22 players?
3. What will the score be?
4. Are you pumped?
5. What music are you getting pumped to?
6. Are you attending in person?
7. Will your voice survive the night?
8. What does Sac need to do to beat us?
9. What do we need to do to beat Sac?
