Beautiful! Good to see vegan sentiments from so long ago. It's not just a modern 'fad'!

Hello! I've just joined Lemmy and have no idea what I am doing, but will hopefully learn fast. (I wasn't on Reddit) I've been vegan since Veganuary 2019. I love cooking, reading and walking and I live on a narrowboat in England. Looking forward to meeting vegans here as I don't tend to meet many on the towpaths.

My most recent favourite is Green Levantine Cuisine by Laith Abdel Hader. Lots of great recipes and I appreciated learning a bit about the cultural significance of each one as well. I've reviewed it on my ko-fi https://ko-fi.com/post/Green-Levantine-Cuisine-by-Laith-Abdel-Hader--Fre-P5P6KYX1I

I don't think the authors I've found are particularly famous though some of them write so well that they should be!

I'm gradually building a reviews library on my vegan ko-fi. I love seeing how many books are out there!

This sounds like my sort of cooking! I like throw-it-together meals too. When you say 'crushed tomato' is that fresh or tinned?

Yes, I read The Jungle recently. It's pretty grim in places where it discusses conditions in the meat packing plants and the way the people employed there were living. I'm not surprised it had such an effect and possibly still does?
