Seems like a lot but the definition of "read" here means scrolled past. So about 10-15 minutes of scrolling and you're out

The best open-source games you know
CataclysmDDA is an amazing open source roguelike. Has a bunch of tilesets if you don't like ASCII

Do you use adblock? Why? Why not?
Reply in thread
That's it for me, way to put it. If a creator wants (as most do) money, let me donate. Don't shovel ads down my throat, I won't sympathize with your situation since you're fucking both of us over

I keep looking back at what's happening with Reddit, not because I want to go back, but just morbid curiosity on if they will ever get their head out of their ass. The more I see, the more I feel the
I'm sad to see that most of the subs I frequented are up and running now like nothing has happened. That's not how you protest by a long shot.

My "subscribed" feed is flooded with one community
Currently there are only reddit-like filters like old, new, hot, most comments, top of the day etc. Hope they do make some sort of more advanced filter though, for sure,

Should I buy Dwarf Fortress?
It's a steep learning curve but it's really fun once you get the hang of it. I think the steam version is better in that regard. Also before the steam version the game was pretty much keyboard only.

Why can't I ping some websites?

Prevents some types of port scanning normally. Don't know about other advantages

Questions from a newbie
There's an Android app for Lemmy called jerboa which is still in it's early stages but quite usable. Federation to other instances is automatic except when an instance admin defederates to instances they think are problematic for the community or whatever. Don't quote me on that I'm still new here as well lol

Games that have stuck with you?
The STALKER series really stuck with me for some reason. It's probably the familiarity of the landscape/atmosphere. Post apoc eastern Europe isn't that much different from normal eastern Europe lol
Barotrauma also stuck with me because of the atmosphere. Amazing game to play solo and feel the weight of the setting, although the bots you play with are a bit iffy and the multiplayer doesn't carry the same feeling of dread and isolation

Hello there, fellow Low End Gamers!
Not low end but I was for many years. I'll follow this community since I use my PC for low end games anyway lol

So I recently deleted Linux because it was too addicting to me, and accidently locked 300gigs of my drive away.
I had a run in with this problem, exact same situation. It's because the disk is dynamic instead of basic. Heres a solution: https://superuser.com/questions/1489311/cannot-extend-drive-there-is-not-enough-space-available-on-the-disk-to-complete
Altough i determined the 200gigs I lost is not worth the (risk) trouble of losing everything else, so I didn't go with that solution.

This'll sound crazy... when I rotate my phone and the screen goes sidways, it removes my account
That's a really weird issue lmao, hope it gets fixed

Tomorrow many subreddits will open up again, will you switch back to Reddit or stay on Lemmy (or use both)
I will stick to Lemmy as my main but I'll use Reddit for some specific and niche stuff, unless a similar community props up . I was always sort of a lurker there but now I'll be even more of a lurker lol. I'll cut down reddit usage to basically 0 though.

Want to enjoy Lemmy on your phone but not a fan of Jerboa? Try Native Alpha!
This sounds great, thanks! Gonna try it later

Rule
The missile knows where it is at all times. It knows this because it knows where it isn't. By subtracting where it is from where it isn't, or where it isn't from where it is (whichever is greater), it obtains a difference, or deviation. The guidance subsystem uses deviations to generate corrective commands to drive the missile from a position where it is to a position where it isn't, and arriving at a position where it wasn't, it now is. Consequently, the position where it is, is now the position that it wasn't, and it follows that the position that it was, is now the position that it isn't. In the event that the position that it is in is not the position that it wasn't, the system has acquired a variation, the variation being the difference between where the missile is, and where it wasn't. If variation is considered to be a significant factor, it too may be corrected by the GEA. However, the missile must also know where it was. The missile guidance computer scenario works as follows. Because a variation has modified some of the information the missile has obtained, it is not sure just where it is. However, it is sure where it isn't, within reason, and it knows where it was. It now subtracts where it should be from where it wasn't, or vice-versa, and by differentiating this from the algebraic sum of where it shouldn't be, and where it was, it is able to obtain the deviation and its variation, which is called error.

Why am I seeing recent content from Beehaw?
From what I understand we still have the copies of their communities and people can still post in them. They just won't be in sync with the "true" community over at beehaw. I bet if you check the users none of them are from beehaw

So I packed up my entire collection and brought it to Lemmy
Just saw this while scrolling and it looks amazing. A question from an absolute newbie: How dangerous is uranium glass? Is a lot of it dangerous? Is eating/drinking from it dangerous? I take it since people collect it and they're fine it's all good but I'm still interested in the answers
