@yyprum I'm in a NAS decision mode atm too. Got a couple of very old 3.5 spinning rust in a was-shit-10-years-ago #Synology. Obvs replacing it with a new Synology is out of the question since their (walked-back) only-approved disk fiasco.
I'm increasingly #Ubiquiti #Unifi at home and a good part of me is leaning towards their UNAS2 and just slapping the existing disks in it and carrying on. But i also think a mini PC with some modern solid state storage might work for me. I also like the idea of grabbing something like an old HP Z-series workstation but I think the actual physical size might annoy me.
I've got some SBCs arriving this week that I plan to first use to see if one of the popular NAS OSes works for me and my relatively meagre needs before launching into some bigger hardware, but i fear whichever way i go will involve a (for me) substantial hardware purchase. Unless someone wants to donate me a 20TB NAS lol
