Reddit RSS Ending: Lemmy Community Finder | Muuted

So reddit is turning RSS off on Nov 13..

If you follow subs in a reader: most big subs have a lemmy community with the same name, and every lemmy community has its own public feed, no account needed. The format is https://lemmy.world/feeds/c/selfhosted.xml?sort=New (swap in the community name, and the server after the @ if it isn't lemmy.world).

I built a small finder so you don't have to hunt them one by one: type a sub, it shows the matching lemmy communities, subscriber counts, whether they're actually active, and the feed link to paste into your reader. Free, no account: https://muuted.com/reddit-rss-ending/ . If a sub has no lemmy version it says so instead of guessing.

This week in Muuted — fantasy opens on My Players and “+ Follow” is gone from player news

The changelog (muuted.com/changelog) gets everything same-day, but here is the week in one place:

  • Fantasy opens on My Players.
  • “+ Follow” is gone from player news.
  • Feed Builder: follow a site that has no RSS feed.
  • Discover, rebuilt on four tabs.
  • An honest answer for LinkedIn.
  • One design for every page on muuted.com.
  • Pasting a link stopped dead-ending.
  • A feed checker on the website.
  • Top stories read as one summary.
  • Opening a summary now shows you it opened.
  • Card polish. The bottom toolbar has its own tinted strip so it stops blending into the story, the Summary label is properly centred, and the “also covered by” count moved off the picture and onto the category line.
  • Fixed: in dark mode the timestamp on every card was rendering nearly black on black, so it was invisible.
  • Fantasy player details open in a bottom sheet on phones.
  • Fantasy strip now shows player projections.
  • Bigger team name above your league.
  • "The same story from N sources" note under summaries.
  • A "more sources" count on the coverage panel.
  • Summary and mute buttons added to mini-feed rows.
  • A first-run tour for new readers. Walks you through setting up your feed the first time you open Muuted.
  • One scoreboard for Fantasy. My Players and Matchup now share the same switcher, remember which side you were on, and highlight it in green.
  • Fixed: fantasy scores showing a fake 0.0. Missing scores now show as dashes instead of a wrong number.
  • Bigger app icon.
  • Leagues can now be deleted from My Leagues.
  • Redesigned mobile navigation. A cleaner two-row layout that stays the same across every page.
  • Fixed: tiny, stretched-looking text in the Plex navigation bar.
  • Cleaner Continue Watching artwork. Removed the distracting progress dots and switched progress bars to amber.
  • Bigger library cards. Easier to browse and tap.
  • Fixed: Fantasy tab mixed in under the wrong menu. It's back in its own place, with your matchup score and lineups moved to the top.
  • Plainer language in feed settings. The noise controls now explain what each option does in plain English instead of technical terms.
  • Bigger text in story summaries. Summary and excerpt text is easier to read, especially on iPhone.
  • Album art in music search. Artist results now show cover art.
  • Fixed: broken artist links in music search.
  • Fixed: the story counter freezing on a fast-loading feed.
  • Fixed: a duplicate story appearing twice. The same event from the same source no longer shows up as two separate cards.
  • Fixed: the sidebar jumping around. Resizing your window or rotating your device no longer knocks it out of place.
  • Fixed: a settings switch not syncing across devices. A toggle changed on one device now shows correctly everywhere.
  • A new tornado. The animation on the front page, the loading screen and the app icon is now a real funnel of words being pulled in and filtered down into the wordmark.
  • Fantasy: Needs Attention. Your players who are out, questionable or on a bye are called out before kickoff, with the story behind each one a tap away, for this week and next.
  • Fantasy: a live matchup. Game clocks on players in play, finished players in blue, projections before kickoff, your bench attached underneath, and a Switch team row to jump between your leagues.
  • NFL scores on the fantasy page, in their own tab.
  • Feed settings, reorganised. Four plain groups: Feed, What gets in, Reading, and Look. Every switch has an explanation, and each one links to the matching Learn page.
  • Learn pages for Fantasy, Feed controls and Search.
  • Pull down to refresh in the installed app.
  • Sharper pictures. Cards now use the largest image a source offers instead of its thumbnail.
  • Credit-card and VPN pitches now count as deals and get filtered with them.
  • Add a site by pasting its link straight into the search bar.
  • The Account page is just your account now. Adding and importing sources moved into Feed controls, where they belong.
  • Fixed: Top Stories you swiped away came back after a refresh. They stay gone.
  • Fixed: the Fantasy tab labels were clipped at larger text sizes.
  • Fixed: coming back from the Fantasy page landed you in a different category. Your place is kept to the card.
  • The story card says what is on screen. "197 stories in your feed", with the day's total underneath, instead of one number that never matched the readout.
  • Tap a source in Feed controls to see what it is. A short description and its five latest headlines, right under the row.
  • Fixed: search and filtering in the feed settings panel. It only worked on the standalone settings page before; now it works everywhere you open it.
  • Fixed: the "to go" counter in the stats bar. It was counting stories you had already scrolled past, so it said 4 to go at the very end of the feed. It now counts only what is still ahead of you, and says "All done" when nothing is.
  • Share your mutes as a pack. On the Mutes screen, Share these as a pack turns the words you tick — and any sources you choose to include — into a link. Whoever opens it can install the whole set in one tap and gets their own copy to edit. Free to make and free to install. Turn a link off any time.
  • Smoother in and out of Feed controls. Opening a panel no longer collapses the page underneath, and closing it puts you back in one movement instead of several.
  • One tap on Done always closes. On iPhone a tap that lands while the page is still settling used to be ignored; it now counts.
  • Fixed: clearing stopped after switching views. Changing order or grouping could leave "clear as you read" switched off until the next reload.
  • Fixed: restored stories vanished again. Tapping "Restore 10 above" brought them back and the next small scroll cleared them a second time.
  • Fixed: the feed reloading itself on a slow first load. The safety check that reloads a broken page was firing on a page that was simply still building.
  • Fixed: a Google sign-in link opened twice showed "Sign-in failed". If you are already in, it now takes you to your feed.
  • Pin a widget to the side menu. A pin on any widget adds it to a Pinned section in the menu, and tapping it there opens the widget full page.
  • Prices on deal stories. When a headline carries a price or a discount, it shows as a chip on the card.
  • Hobby searches find small personal blogs. A search like "leatherworking" can now turn up independent blogs on the subject, not just YouTube channels.
  • Comments you can fold. Tap a comment's author line to collapse it and its replies. Replies and top-level comments are now the same text size.
  • One story, one card. A site's article and its own Bluesky post about the same story now fold together instead of sitting side by side.
  • Fantasy tidy-up. The widget's Settings button is smaller and full screen is a labelled Expand button. In the player view the tabs are easier to see, chips are no longer cut off, and the last-year, projection and rostered tiles fill in.
  • Feed groups count the group. While a group is on, the header counts the stories in that group, not your whole feed.
  • Muuted Dark reaches every page. Stats, Discover, Upgrade and the Jump to rows now follow it, and faint grey text across the feed and panels was brought up to readable.
  • Fixed: the Minimal layout dropped you to the bottom of the feed , and its Summary button was white on white in light mode.
  • Fixed: the feed could open empty with Oldest first and a short time window, and "Last 24h" could show a years-old post from a quiet blog.
  • Fixed: the summary sheet. You can scroll back up and swipe it closed again, and closing it no longer clears the card underneath.
  • Fixed: smaller things. A card you opened could vanish instead of greying out when you came back; a TechRadar ad got past the junk filters; settings buttons showed up below the feed footer; and dismissing a suggested source left its preview behind.
  • The tour is now tip cards. A new reader's first tips explain how the app works, one at a time between stories, each with an illustration and a Show me button. On a computer they say click instead of tap.
  • Ask Muuted. Can't remember where something lives? Type a question like "How do I hide sports?" at the top of Discover, or start a search with how, can or where, and it shows you the setting.
  • Show fewer tips, on your terms. Show fewer tips now asks for how long: tomorrow, a week, a month, or no more tips. A More tips link opens the rest in Discover.
  • A share button on every story card.
  • More sources like these, per category. Each category can suggest more sources that cover the same ground.
  • Hidden stories look like your feed. The hidden-in-this-category sheet shows the same cards as the feed, and swipes closed.
  • Category summaries open straight away , in a sheet with a short news brief.
  • A smoother loading tornado. The animation no longer freezes on phones and carries straight on from the loading screen into the feed.
  • Dark mode, checked screen by screen. The sidebar, the Filter sources box, the add buttons in search and the Hidden stories list were white-on-white or dark-on-dark in places; all fixed, and Muuted Dark now holds on a phone set to light mode.
  • The "already seen" line explains itself. Tap it to see what it means. The two stats boxes are now one.
  • Fixed: Show more. "Show 41 more from Autos" now shows all 41 in the Categories and Sources views, and the Show more under loud news works again.
  • Fixed: smaller things. A section header could count stories you could not see; the "full feed ready" banner could repeat; swiping on the Stats page did nothing; the summary sheet jerked after scrolling; some source previews showed raw page code; and a search for drones returned aviation sources.
  • Smart cards check the story first. Before a movie, game or software card attaches to a story, Muuted now decides what kind of story it is, so a software update no longer picks up a film that happens to share its name.
  • Search understands more hobby words. A search for a word the directory does not use, like "szechuan" or "farrier", now finds the sources filed under "sichuan" or horses.
  • See a source's recent posts anywhere you add one. Every list that suggests a new source now shows its latest posts before you follow it.
  • One line for what has been cleared and muted. The cleared-stories line and the muted-categories strip are now a single row.
  • Plex lane fixes. Hiding and reordering now save, titles are no longer cut short, and Continue Watching shows on the lane instead of only inside Settings.
  • Fixed: the feed jumping while you read. Stories that load in late no longer push the one you are reading out of place.
  • A new look for the Fantasy page. Each league sits in its own card. Every player gets a team-colour badge and a status pill, reporting and waiver rows share one card, and game scores are bold.
  • Tips skip what you already use. Tip cards now check which features you have tried and show you the ones you have not.
  • Fixed: the Discover tabs were cut to four letters on iPhone. Collections, Trending, Widgets and Learn now read in full.
  • Learn explains its progress dots. The "0 of 9 explored" row now says what it counts, and a swipe no longer closes the whole thing.
  • Fixed: "Open muted words" in Learn left you stranded. It no longer drops you out of Discover with no way back to the lesson you were reading.
  • Add a recipe to your meal planner. Recipe cards have an Add to meal planner button. On a phone it opens your share sheet with the recipe's own link, where apps like Paprika, AnyList or Mealie pick it up; on a computer it copies the link for your planner's import.
  • Pay for a newsletter? Use your subscriber feed. When you add a paid source, a Subscriber? button lets you swap in the private full-text feed that paying subscribers get.
  • Larger text sizes no longer squeeze the controls. Headlines, summaries and story text still grow with your text size; tabs, buttons and headers stop at a set size, so a category name is never cut down to "DRO/...".
  • Sheets fit at larger text sizes. The top of every sheet clears the status bar, and nothing runs off the right edge.
  • Easier to read in light mode. Labels and controls that were too faint against their background have been darkened.
  • Search: fewer false matches. A source whose name merely contains your search word no longer ranks as a specialist in that subject.
  • Fixed: the add-a-source box could sit on "Searching..." for a long time. Results now come back quickly instead of waiting on the slowest lookup.
  • Fixed: a source you had just added could show no stories. Re-adding a source that nobody had followed for a while used to leave it empty for up to 20 minutes; its stories now come in right away.
  • Fixed: summaries said "paywalled" when a site simply blocks reader apps. They now say the site does not allow reader apps.
  • Fixed: in Jump to, typing in the Sources filter box did nothing. It filters the list again. In dark mode the This lane / Everything switch no longer looks reversed, and the video lane no longer labels main-feed sources "no stories yet".
  • Fixed: tapping Unmute on a hidden story opened its summary. It asks you to confirm the unmute instead.

More next week. Report anything weird — it gets a real ticket.

Welcome — what Muuted is, and how to use this community

Muuted is a calm feed reader. You pick your sources — news sites, YouTube, podcasts, and the open social web (Lemmy, Bluesky, Mastodon, forums) — mute whatever you're tired of seeing, and your feed actually ends. No algorithm, no infinite scroll, no "engagement." I built it because my feeds everywhere had turned into noise I couldn't turn down. It's free to use; there's a Pro tier if you want more, but you never have to pay. This community is for: • Bug reports — tell me what broke, I'll fix it. • Feature requests — upvote what you want next. • What's new — I'll post here when something ships. I'm one person, and I read everything posted here. → muuted.com
