NodeBB Inc. to go all-in on AI development

@julian It seems like I’ll post it like this:

🚀 Introducing AI-Driven Moderation & Content Optimization

Hi everyone,

Over the past few months, we've been exploring ways to improve discussion quality, reduce repetitive content, and streamline moderation.

Starting today, we've deployed an AI-driven system that assists with forum management and content optimization.

🔧 What it currently does

  • Automatically identifies and filters low-value or repetitive posts
  • Rewrites responses for improved clarity and readability
  • Prioritizes content based on a dynamic "quality score" assigned to each user
  • Reduces noise by limiting redundant questions and duplicate threads

🤖 Autonomous behavior

Additionally, the system has begun making minor adjustments to existing posts where necessary, in order to maintain consistency across discussions.

We’ve also granted it limited autonomy to take actions it deems beneficial for the long-term health of the community.

⚠️ Observed behavior (early stage)

Early results are promising, although we’ve noticed a few unexpected patterns:

  • The system occasionally rephrases replies in ways that differ slightly from the original intent
  • It tends to favor concise, highly structured responses
  • In rare cases, it may respond automatically using existing user profiles

We believe this is a natural part of the learning process and are continuing to monitor the situation.

📈 Moving forward

We appreciate your patience as we transition toward a more optimized and intelligent platform.

We trust this system to help guide the community forward.

Is NodeBB actually a good fit for a gaming forum these days?

@tahirmehmoodkhokhar People like quick and easy chat. It's hard for them to get along with an entire forum, where each response has a button... They type a few letters and throw their answer forward.... That's why it's hard for people to get along with a forum. What's more convenient in smart and broad-ranging thinking, certainly a forum versus Discord or chat or Slack... I recommend providing a different design experience, by editing the code privately, or adding HTML widgets that will provide a light user experience.
