Where did lemmy.world come from?

Reply in thread

beehaw is ran by the gays. So if you don't like lgbt propaganda that probably isn't a good instance for you. The main admin is literally named Gaywallet. I personally would not want that dude moderating my comments. He's probably way to sensitive and cries at the slightest critique.

lemmy.world's users seem miles better than lemmy.ml's users to me to be honest. I just like rounded debate from most view points.

I'm not a huge fan of instance blocking especially when community blocking is usually enough but it's good people can identify extremism coming from the left too.

I love to see reddit fall apart because their mod/admin system is a broken mess and I hate having to go there but that is where most forums tend to get set up because it's free and people already have user accounts there.

I always wanted to pursue music but i lack the patience to learn how to play an instrument, played a as piano during school but that was it, always enjoyed singing and song writing and rapping tho

Imo, everyone lacks that patience to learn while young. It's up the the parents to force their children to study.

It really is helpful to the mind. People I know who speaks more than two languages perfectly (indistinguishable from a native) all had music training as children. It must teach the kids how to mimic sounds or something.

I played guitar and skateboarded a lot growing up. Im probably not teaching my kids these sort of things as those kind of people, (my kind of people) probably represent the worst humanity has to offer.

I picked up a used piano for 5k and we started giving my son lessons. He seems to like it.

Have you tested it? Does it work? Will they not be able to see exploding heads communities on their instance? That's a great idea if it works and good admin skills.

The Developers Who Are In The Wrong, Not Reddit.

I actually think reddit is completely reasonable. The problem is the first party reddit tools are trash. Reddit's default ui is trash. Reddits app is trash.

old reddit is the only reddit ui that was made by reddit that isn't trash.

Companies are using the reddit api to harvest data and then train AI models which they can then sell. Reddit has to pay to host that data so I do feel like they should make money on it. Just like I think github shouldn't be trainning ai models on code I left on github.

Reddit has never been profitable. It's kept up by investors and I guess people trying to control information flow.

I'm happy everyone is migrating though because fuck reddit.

> TFW Wolfballs Wasn't Around For The Rexxit API Migration

I think I make a bigger difference in the background where no one sees me. Helping with migrations, technical advise, trolling in the right places. tbh, the wolfballs name may have hurt the entire migration because it would have been brought up everytime people argued about what instance to join. And many people for some odd reason think it sounds gross.

lemmy.world is doing a decent job. Even if they turn out to be fake and gay the amount of new users they've help usher into the fediverse cannot be taken back. It's basically larger than scored now. Which hasn't really grown at all.

Some times it's better to let something die so something better can take it's place.

I'm not sure how I feel about gay couples to be honest. I don't actually care about closet gays or even open amongst adults I just feel kids shouldn't witness dudes kissing.

At the end of the day they aren't hurting anyone by being gay at home but I want grand kids so I don't want to encourage behavior that would result in a genetic dead end.

I don't want to proliferate hatred/intolerance of any kind so I'm sure I have room to grow and learn here.

I feel like the closet system worked fine though.

the ones in ufo's might just be robots. Easier to send a purpose built AI across the universe than a being that spent millions of years adapting to a single ecosystem. the second one you would have to bring the ecosystem with you.

Also, don't let them get to you. They will dig hard, they will make accounts here just to post racist/hateful shit so they can then go back to their shit instances and say your instance is racists. People have no life.

I don't even care if google agrees with it. (They do, it's promoted and featured. ) I just want the ability to filter it out for my children. I don't think they should be bombarded with gay stuff before 18. Especially not at 5 years old. There is no lgbt filter like there is for porn or nudity. I've just banned all my kids from having unsupervised tablets.

Netflix is actually the easiest. I can do a search for lgbqt and then block every title that comes up. Then I monitor what they are watching and if any blue haired character or female with a buzz cut comes on I block that title too to be safe.

I rip my own blurays and dvd's to build children's collections on kodi and jellyfin. That helps. Kids are addicted to endless doom scrolling video collections though.

They are both admitted antifa but the German one is like a real anti fascist. He genuinely seems to want to help people in his own way. The American is more like

My fascism is the correct fascism

And is absolutely a terrible human being.

Yeah something like that.

Really hard to transport living things across the Cosmos. Might be impossible.

Data on the other hand is easy.

We will send AI to distant places long before we send people.

Hypothesized civilizations like class 4 and above on the Kardashev scale could potentially just cut out a part of the cosmos and move it closer if the travel distance was an issue. Or temporarily just freeze time.

You break cause and effect this way. Worm holes = time travel. Their energy requirements are insane and their designs tend to involve exotic matter that doesn't exist.

It would involve new understandings of physics to figure out shortcuts.

The time issue isn't even the biggest hurdle. (Though it is a big one) at 80% the speed of light humans can spread out to the stars. hundreds/thousands of years pass on earth but only decades to the traveler.

The big problem is running into dust. Space is actually really rich with material. a spec of dust would blow up a space ship at those speeds.

Radiation from stars, bodies withering from so much time away from gravity. Artificial gravity machines would be necessary and would involve lots of energy with lots of moving parts that would wear out.

Pretty sure we are closer to the last ice age than we are to interstellar travel.
