[META] Should AI disclosure tags [AI], [NOT AI] be mandated when sharing projects?
Yes, please. I don't like seeing a "neat handy application" only to find that 95% of it was coded by Claude, the fact of which is either buried, or not even mentioned until you visit the repo and see that it's the top contributor.

Some commenter will point it out and will get enough upvotes to be visible on first glance. It’s not perfect but good enough for me.
I don't necessarily disagree here, however there is always the edge case of a certain overly-vocal group being 100% anti-AI, and that any usage of AI is considered a crime against humanity.
I'm not part of that group per se, but I also want full disclosure. If you used AI to get things going and handled it yourself from there, that's one thing. Constant commits from Claude or whatever is a whole different bucket of shit I refuse to touch.

What's the strangest you've seen?
I despise these interview tactics. Don't waste my time with this. I know what they're trying to accomplish, but I don't care to play games that ultimately determine my eligibility. I'm here to do a job, do I qualify or not? I don't care about your office culture, and if this is the kind of question I'll get in an interview, that tells me all I need to know about the "culture".

Why you need to take back control of your synced passwords and how to go about doing that
This is essentially what I did. I exported my passwords from Firefox, Chrome, iCloud, and even my work stuff from Edge; then imported all of it into my KeePass database, under their own folders.
I'm slowly clearing out duplicates and outdated credentials from each "browser export" folder, and sorting current passwords from them that weren't already in my database. It's a pain in the dick, but absolutely worth the trouble.

HAOS 18.0 update released
Reply in thread
HAOS has more support for running additional add-ons/applications next to HA itself, on the same machine. In my case, that would be a Lenovo M710q Tiny loaded with an i7-7700T and 8GB RAM. Plenty of resources to spare for things like my Zigbee coordinator, NoLongerEvil (Nest thermostat), go2rtc (webcam shenanigans), Mosquitto broker (MQTT), Node-Red, Music Assistant, Aircast (for apple stuff), and other things.
TL;DR - It's mostly personal preference. If you already have a bunch of containers running for home stuff, then by all means, run HA in Docker. But if you prefer the "all in one box" approach, go for HAOS. I don't mind the "all in one box" approach, as long as it's related to the core function of HA.

HAOS handles it a bit differently than standard Docker. Everything is managed within Home Assistant, including configuration (usually).

Any self-hosted option for real time location sharing?
Reply in thread
So we took a look trying to figure out why her phone wasn't giving HA a consistent location... She likes to turn off the camera/mic/location killswitches 😂
Quick fix haha, but at least we know that Graphene is doing the thing that it's known to do!

What apps do you use to listen music at work/on phone?
I have a Pandora subscription. Trying to make it play nice with Music Assistant.

Proton has handed over 32,076 users' data to governments since 2017. Their own transparency report states a 94% compliance rate in 2024.
Once again - Proton is legally obligated to comply with the laws of the country in which they are based. This isn't specific to Proton, and they are not going behind your back to do this. In case it's not clear, this data is directly from Proton.

Google Starts Sharing All Your Text Messages With Your Employer
If your company provides you with a device to use for work, then you need to assume they can see anything you do on it, regardless of who makes it. It belongs to the company, not you.

Bought a Bluray Disc. Sony still tracks you.
Yeah I just straight up pirate movies now, I don't even try to hide it from people anynore. It's clear to me at this point that all these companies care about is getting richer by the minute off the backs of the common man, and their excuses for doing so are getting more and more pathetic.

New Pixel update means your RCS messages might be visible to your boss
In all cases involving work devices, the default assumption should be that the company can see anything you're doing on it at any time.
This is why I carry two phones.

Good. If I download an app with the intent to pay a content creator who uses that app to post content, I don't see why my choice of app store should have any bearing on how much of that money goes to the content creator, nor why the company who hosts that app on their store should get any income from said internal payments whatsoever.
Patreon (and everyone else) already pays Apple to simply host the app in their store. Apple is double-dipping by doing this and throwing an absolute fit comparable to that of a toddler who was just told "no".
