Ah, interesting. I searched using the keyword drinking and alcohol as well and those didn't come up. Don't know why. But, yeah, I wanted a much broader community than just drinking seeing how other addictions fall by the wayside frequently. I think we'll be able to carve ourselves a nice little niche for those who need it.

I'll start off.

Hello everyone, I'm Kvasir and I'm an alcoholic. I had a real tough couple of years. My fiance died and I hit the bottle hard to numb the grief and the pain of losing her. I drank more in these past two plus years than I ever have before.

It was an everyday, all day type of madness that culminated in the second worst day of my life after her passing from a terrifying first encounter with delirium tremens hallucinations.

From that moment on the desire to drink was forever taken (blessedly!) from me. I have just two weeks so far, but these two weeks are the greatest I've felt in years and each day keeps getting better as I go.

I hope everyone who comes here finds a sanctuary that they can use to explore new tools and strategies to deliver them into the life truly want and need. Thank you all for joining this little digital nook. I hope you enjoy your time here ;)

Not that I could find. That's why I created ![email protected] and made it about addiction broadly instead of one particular drug so as to get a sizable community going on lemmy to get more users to support each other in their struggles.

My fav was downloading a track and then every 10~ish seconds it playing 'this is Mike Jones'
