Another wish: Polan can into space

I disabled hardware acceleration and VLC is able to play mp4 files again; however, is there a way to turn on hardware acceleration without getting these errors?

Update:

Changing “Hardware-accelerated decoding” to “VA-API video decoder” fixed the issue. Now VLC is able to play mp4 files with hardware acceleration without any issues.

I like 'em.

It uses Google's Chromium engine, that's the problem.

I read the wiki and changed "Hardware-accelerated decoding" to "VA-API video decoder".

My original problem was caused by the fact that this was set to automatic, now that it's set to "VA-API video decoder" VLC is able to play mp4 files again without any issues.

You can set up Debian 12 to use Flatpak. I use it and it works well.

Tbh I don't have the time or energy to moderate two instances. I'm just trying things out right now. If people don't like once-a-week NSFW Fridays then I'll change it to once-a-month. If people don't like that then I'll get rid of it altogether; however, if I were to be honest, I don't see what's wrong with posting NSFW content just once a week or month. I get that people don't want communities to be taken over by NSFW content but by doing this I'm limiting it to specific days—the rest of the time, we'll have normal PG/PG-13 type of content.

Well what if I were to mark those posts as NSFW so that if you don't want to see them, Lemmy won't show them to you? Would that work?

The only way people can see NSFW content on Lemmy is if they have it enabled in their Settings panel:

Note: I didn't pixelate the face of the fighter on the left because I'm experimenting with a new privacy policy. Instead of pixelating people's faces, I'm not going to name them in the title.

I'm just experimenting right now. If this doesn't work out, I'll get rid of NSFW Fridays altogether.

Also, I think that this community has become a bit monotonous and I'm trying to spice things up a little.

Well, I think that my usage of a VPN might have prompted them to flag my account but I stopped using it this past week. Also I was using an IG Downloader to get the pics so maybe that’s why they suspended my account (note: I wasn’t stealing content because I only post pics/clips of women who have given me their permission).

there are other mechanisms to browse profiles and grab images from insta that are anonymous.

I know but I also have to communicate with them when I’m not sure whether I should post a certain pic or not (maybe there are other people in it or maybe they would feel uncomfortable having that particular pic posted here, etc.)

this community brings attention to talented female martial artists that lemmy users might otherwise not be exposed to. a net positive in my mind.

Some people don't feel comfortable about pics like this (because a part of her dress is lacy) and report them to the admins so as a precautionary measure, I mark such pics as NSFW. IMHO, however, there's absolutely nothing NSFW about this pic.
