Freed At Last From Patents, Does Anyone Still Care About MP3?

Reply in thread

@dustyData Oh my gosh. I see this every single day at work. So many people have no idea where any of their documents are saved, until they can’t find them. I’ll be honest, I use a lot of streaming services for music as well, but I think I might actually go back to simply buying music. Who knows. Call me old-fashioned and only 35 years old, but I still see a point in local storage in traditional desktop type software. There’s not enough of it around here.

Those YouTube ads everyone hates made $10.4 billion in just three months

@aeternum @technology Adguard blocks all advertisements on there. I’ve installed that, and I’ve never received a single one. As much as I wish I could simply mix YouTube for my life, I can’t, because too many of the folks who produce content up there use it as their only means of sharing that content with the world, so I’ve sort of struck a balancing act between watching the things I want to watch, Will still remaining conscientious of what the companies behind it are doing.

Why do people see me as far older than 19 when I type the way I do sometimes?/Why do people think full stops are rude?

@magnetosphere I feel like society imposes way too many rules that don’t make sense, hence they cause lots of misunderstandings like this. I’m not sure if it’s the English graduate in me or what, but I always write on the Internet as though I was speaking to someone, and I’ve never really thought about it, although I’ll be honest and admit my own guilt in criticizing other people‘s writing styles. But that’s more the English grad side of me, not shutting up I think.

California introduces age verification law for all operating systems, including Linux and SteamOS — user age verified during OS account setup

@BartyDeCanter I saw a video on this...Brian Lunduke's been informing us quite nicely. My question still stands...how on earth is this even going to be able to be implmented in the first place? There are too many utilities for it to work successfully. I question whether the folks in government proposing these rules even discuss the feasibility first.
