I know there are some ways to imeoove it by allowing the app to always run in the background, but still it's very annoying and it happens constantly to me and many others. What is the root problem? Why don't other messaging apps have this problem?

Does anyone even use this? Or does anyone here have friends who regularly post on signal Stories?

Personally I have never seen anyone use it.

I actually have two questions, first, should I switch to GOS even though they don't really recommend it on their website and might be left behind soon?

Second, should I install the new March android update? I don't use any of these features that are listed, and some dont even work for pixels older than 8. My worry is that the phone will just get slower and drain battery faster. But on the other hand I probably need to update this to receive other security updates later this year before the 5y period of support runs out.

Also I'm not looking to replace my phone. This is still an amazing and fast device with camera better than 90% of phones out now.

Yesterday I saw someone with Meta smart glasses in public for the first time. Even just standing near him was unpleasant. It doesn't matter whether it's recording, pointing a camera and mics at somebody who didn't agree to it feels rude and a bit shocking.

I worry that this is becoming more acceptable or do others feel the same way? Companies keep pushing forward, now with smart neckleses, smart headphones, (all equipped with camera and mic). Are these all doomed to fail? What feature would convince me or others to actually start using them? It's certainly not chatgpt strapped on your face, or a shitty quality spy camera either.

If any of my friends or family wore these, I wouldn't feel comfortable speaking to them.

I run a Nextcloud instance on my home server and want secure remote access without exposing ports. I came across Twingate, which looks like a VPN alternative.

Has anyone used it for personal setups? Is it overkill compared to something simpler like Tailscale? I’d like to know how you use it, or what else you use.

Would you recommend to use a RPi 5 or a second hand Lenovo mini pc (i3 6100t, 8gb ram) or something else?
