I miss mostly anonymous people cracking games without running around screaming from the rafters about gremlins in their modems stealing their breakfast bars. I can't believe most if not all Denuvo releases are now only cracked by this person.

He might have the right to remain silent, but it is clear he doesn't have the ability.

Well if that argument works out for the studios, Oneida better get ready because I'll be seeing them in court. After all, they made the spoons that I used to eat the ice cream that made me fat.

When all the big cable players started making their own streaming services, most of us knew they weren't going to let their gravy train go. We know they want us to use the ad-tiers because Iger flat out said so because it makes them more money, and I'm still expecting contracts to be their next big idea, sign up for 2 years, get 1-year half-price. Meet new cable, same as the old cable. It's following a similar playbook too with no ads to some ads and ever-increasing prices.

I don't think Red is putting his foot too far into Hyde's ass, he wrote a letter in support of his character to I can only assume was trying for a more lenient sentence.

I followed this from Ublock's Reddit page, it's working for now.

Current anti-adblock status: Latest fixed (ID: 462a8d5d)*

Please, remember these 3 steps:

Force update all your filter lists (click uBO icon > ⚙ Dashboard button > Filter lists pane > 🕘 Purge all caches > 🔃 Update now)
Turn off all other extensions AND browser's built-in blockers
Remove all your current custom filters AND custom filter lists that you have enabled / added manually (Adguard lists...)
It might be quicker to make a backup of your config and restore to defaults before proceeding to step 1.

Fixing anti-adblock can cause ads slipped. If you see any ads slipped, please report back the EXACT URL and your country when accessing the URL so volunteers are able to investigate.

The filter lists can be updated multiple times a day, so please always do step 1 before reporting.

• About the ID above, it's the ID of YouTube's script that's used for anti-adblock, you can monitor it via this link: https://pastefy.app/G1Txv5su/raw (top to bottom is oldest to latest). It means that the current fix is matched with the script with corresponding ID.

If the latest ID (the last line) does not match the current one written above, it means YT has updated the new one and it might cause anti-adblock again. If it matches and you still get anti-adblock, kindly check the 3 steps above. Thank you.

In recent years, copyright holders have repeatedly requested Plex to take more action against piracy.

Their preferred method of logging into your own home server by going through their website should really give you pause when reading about how anti-piracy organizations pressure them.

Anonymous Data

In addition to the information described above, Plex collects anonymised data when users interact with our services. This includes:

• Server / library data

• DVR device information: manufacturer name and model

There have been numerous stories over the years about how anonymized data isn't really anonymous.

It shouldn't be deleted, there's a number of people who don't want to be there. Also, the idea that these places can only be lifeboats if the SC mods on Reddit want to leave Reddit is kind of messed up...

My biggest question is, what changed from "we're thinking of making this an unofficial official SC" to siding with Reddit by fully reopening back to "normal" and acting like everything is fine? It's like they went from "Ride or Die" to "Tuck Tail and Run."

For the record, I get it, Reddit is threatening to nuke anybody that doesn't fall in line and that means giving up something you love and have given way too many free hours to, but it really seemed everything was saying we're in this to the death only to see it turn around and reopen like nothing.

All Google has to do is sell this idea to websites and big companies that hate adblockers to try and ram it through. It'll be like the old days "This site only works with internet explorer 3.0 or greater."

I appreciate them getting the warnings out and standing against it but if you use one of their browsers or follow their blogs/socials, then chances are you already knew Google Chrome was bad for you.

discussion about this versus Lemmy,

I think Kbin looks and functions better than Lemmy, at the same time I also know that Lemmy feels a bit more Reddit-like thanks to its threaded forum style as opposed to Kbin's BB forum style. Either way, it's not really necessary to choose one or the other in the long run, thanks to federation, be it here or Lemmy I should be able to follow the content without leaving here.

if anything, try to more actively work on building an alternative community here as an offshoot for those who prefer to stick to the fediverse rather than reddit going forward.

I'm not necessarily opposed to using Reddit, I think there are a lot of great communities there, but I think after seeing everything Spez has done and especially the way they've acted, something else horrendous is likely coming, just look at Musk and Twitter.

I very much would like to see more activity here, and I know that should have come from us here already helping. Perhaps we could all make more effort. I don't even really need the latest rumors, I'd be happy with some weekly show discussions, not even needing them to be live threads.

as far as things go this has mostly been ignored by the mod team at large, outside of a few of us (me, gloom, willpauer) there really hasn't been any legitimate discussion or focus given.

It's that damn discord generation. shakes fist in air /s

Seriously, I'm glad you tried, it was always worth a shot, even if in the end it doesn't work out.

Now, I am on the can we ban Threads train, I wasn't at first because they hadn't gotten involved in actually joining the rest of us, now they are and they've admitted they want all our information too, I just don't want any part of that.

They've never met a piece of data they didn't want to mine, have they?

The subs should do rolling blackouts on important dates to their communities, Apple announcement day, blackouts... Iphone update days, blackouts... and so on.

It seems quite clear that nobody at Reddit has ever had any form of PR training, The Verge says their PR person was basically saying two different things and contradicting themselves the article goes on to say "I don’t know how to interpret that, or his other replies explaining that the current actions might be a pastiche of interpretations of different rules instead of just Rule 4 — but it all makes me wonder if the conspiracy theorists among us were correct."

I still read "young adult" novels, they are clearly aimed at kids/teens but they are short and I can read them leisurely over a couple of days.

Libby (Overdrive) was sold to the Private Equity company that debt loaded and then bankrupted Toys 'R Us while giving their execs big money. Simon & Schuster books are also being sold to the same group. Since they took over Overdrive they've removed the easy ability to recommend books to your local library that you would like to see them buy for you, it'll only get worse from here sadly.

That said, I too am using this function quite a bit as well.

I lifted this from elsewhere, and they lifted it from Reddit, who lifted it from the Wrestling Observer, so it's hot potatoes and probably half fucking wrong... but apparently a third party that witnessed it says Punk started it, then he went at Tony.

"Another version, and this would be a neutral source who was not a wrestler but was there and witnessed it and his version was that right after Perry came to the back, Punk went nose-to-nose with him aggressively and asked him if he had a problem. That person said Perry said he was just looking to get heat as a heel. Punk shoved him hard, Perry got in his face and in that version Punk sucker punched him and went for a choke. People immediately broke it up and Khan was yelling at Punk to let him go.

That person said that once they were separated, Punk lunged in Khan’s direction but a number of people got in his way while Punk was yelling “I Quit.” Monitors were knocked down during all this. Joe was very upset and went to calm Punk down."

I'm almost certain he didn't want it at all; that it was a giant publicity stunt but he ran into a contract he couldn't default on or back away from.

TL,DR version... put too many eggs in their Facebook basket and are upset some got scrambled.

Publishers say they deserve transparency,

Publishers want transparency... why should they get transparency with what Facebook is doing, they're no more special than everybody else who is at the whim of Meta.

“It’s difficult to say with certainty what the causes are, but Facebook has made no secret about its intention to deprioritize news on its platform and give greater precedence to video content,

So they were kind of warned since it's not a secret and thus it shouldn't have been a surprise.

“Our content has provided a lot of value to Facebook,

And yet, they discount that Facebook has provided a lot of value back to them because the article also says Publishers claim roughly 25% of their traffic comes from Facebook.

I'd hazard a guess it's a test to see if they can dump news because of things like in Canada with their "Online News Act" and California's "California Journalism Preservation Act" which does the same thing, making Facebook pay to pass the news on to users.

I'm not trying to make excuses for Facebook, they are a huge privacy nightmare that has far too many people hooked to them, but forcing them to pay for news is ridiculous when you consider they aren't just taking those companies' news and posting it, those sites and owners have Facebook share buttons they installed on their websites themselves.

Fulton County regularly allows cameras into the courtroom, and sometimes they run it on YouTube, It's from their public access tv channel and it's how we watched the Stop Cop City council meeting, so it's not just because it's the Donald circus. Fulton county is pretty open with court cases.

As for why it should be televised, we deserve to see the evidence and have the whole picture laid out, you deserve to hear what the Government's case is against him and if it helps even 10 percent of his followers to see the light, that's a plus.

I don't see any way they could, or more likely would, rule against him without one of the cases against him ending with a guilty verdict.

It also says that the change going to happen even though X ran it by advertisers who didn't like it.

Holy shit this man is a fucking idiot. Advertisers who left in droves and he is now trying to get back have told him they don't like this, and the motherfucker says yeah, who cares what you think I'm doing it anyway. I never got on the Musk is a genius train, and now I hope all those that believed he was are waking up.

Musk tweeted that journalists who want "more freedom to write and a higher income" should publish directly on X.

Yeah, I just don't see that happening, it's also a plan to get more users for his paid checkmark because to publish directly on Twitter, they'll need those extra 25k characters.
