Post on /r/RedditAlternatives detailing why Lemmy isn't an alternative. Feel free to chime in to give another perspective

I'll probably join in later to give my 2 cents as a new threadiverse user.

but I have to say I agree with the decentralized nature is a UX headache. simply because if someone isn't linking in the right format, I'll be kicked out of my instance and suddenly I can't comment anymore.

it's better in mobile apps. and there's probably browser extensions to help. but still.

in a sense I get then though. it's like they're getting preached on. nobody lines that, right?

I myself gave threadiverse another chance on my own volition and learned on my own.

so it might take some time for others to try it give a second chance

Instance A does not federate with Instance B. But B federates with A. What does it mean to a user?

Thanks. That's a slight shame. I've only been trying out lemmy / threadiverse for just a few days (second attempt. first attempt was back on reddit APIcalypse) and for now I'm liking mbin a bit more than lemmy. fedia.io being the biggest instance, so that's why I registered there first. next biggest mbin instance is a bit less stable.

I suppose it's still early days for me so I can afford to jump around for now to see what instance sticks, and I guess the software as well.

What Fediverse services do you use?

And for another, at any time users can view Categories of Communities, such as all things Fediverse, News & Politics, or Gaming, and now users can even create our own customized Feeds

I like the sound of this. Pardon the comparison, but it's like multisubreddit. That's one of the big things from reddit I miss. Making my own categorised feed.
