I'm about 6 weeks into owning my first automatic watch, a Timex titanium field watch. It runs fairly accurately, all things considered, and gains about 10 seconds per day. It is not a big deal in the least, but my anal retentive psyche has decided that the seconds need to be hacked back to perfect accuracy every morning.

Is this bad for the watch? The thing is built like a tank, but I'm not sure if it is actually built for that kind of repetitive use of the crown.

I went ahead and picked up the Timex I mentioned the other day, and I am happy as can be! It's light, comfortable, feels like a tank, and seems to be keeping pretty accurate time for the 9 hours that I've had it. It has a Miyota 8215 movement with custom, shock absorbent mounting and a screw down crown for better water resistance. It's almost the exact same size as the Casio AE-1000W I've had as my EDC, and only a little bit heavier.

I'm looking to pick up my first automatic wristwatch after wearing a Casio AE-1000W for the last several years. I have a Dalvin manual wind pocket watch and bought my wife a Seiko Presage automatic, and I feel like making the leap for myself.

I'm looking for something that is more utilitarian, with a strap instead of a bracelet, and the same size or smaller compared to the Casio. The quality of the movement is most important to me, closely followed by build quality and durability. I have it narrowed down to a Timex Expedition Capstone, a Timex Expedition Field Post Titanium, a Seiko Automatic 5 Sports, and an AVI-8 Flyboy Wingman Worldtimer. I don't know anything about the AVI-8 brand, and any help would be appreciated!

My new Dalvey Half Hunter Pocket Watch in Cerulean Blue. It has a 17-crystal Sea-Gull movement, and after doing some digging I think it is the ST3600K. It seems to lose about a minute a day, but watching it is mesmerizing, and it adds a lovely amount of heft to a waistcoat pocket.

I've been carrying a Relic Folio with quartz movement for more than thirty years, but the numbers have started coming off of the dial. I figured it was time for a new one, and this is a gorgeous device!
