With my very limited experience I would suggest allowing them to reroll the save every turn. On a success either they stop being berserk or they temporarily gain control again and the curse has no effect until their next turn.

You can still lower the DC if the party does something to snap them out

I don't really play video games so I don't have much to draw from.
