Aliexpress Virtual Boy product

It works surprisingly well! It doesn't fit into the console weird like I thought it would, and grips the internal connection just the right amount not to feel worrying.

All the games work, and the games that support battery-backed saves are saved individually. I was expecting much worse from a product that looks like this from AliExpress.

There really isn't much dialog to Innsmouth, but all the JPN exclusives that can benefit from translations have been translated. (Though all the JPN roms on this multicart are unpatched original roms).

OEM retail carts do not look like this multicart!

Sync users who joined Lemmy on the app launch day, how has your first week been so far?

I've been loving it, feels good to be using it again. Lemmy isn't as active as I would love it to be (especially in the topics I'm interested in), but being able to scroll around using Sync has really motivated me to be active here. I hope that happens with more people.

I really wish I could submit posts using the app, and there are a couple of the features that feel like should be basic functions that require a subscription to use. Happy to support the developer, but I don't like subscription models and not sure if there's enough value here for me (yet) to justify a one-time $99 payment.

I'd also love it if the "no more posts loaded. Retry?" toast message would time out and fade away. It ends up blocking some of the info for the last post it loaded at the bottom of the screen, and it just doesn't leave!

Just GBA, Square Enix did all these releases for it and I'm a big fan of the series and the system. Just threw Tactics in because it's also "Final Fantasy" on the GBA. And figured I'd put the DS III in there too for the hell of it.

I have the original Tactics installed on my PS Classic. 🤷

The mother games are the only repros I've purchased, it's a crime that Nintendo didn't localize those for NA or EUR!

So it's just a cheap repro from eBay with an English patch. I have a flash cart too, which is probably the better way to go.

Thank goodness for modern electronics!

With a LED backlight, the battery life of this almost triples! And rechargeable batteries are way better than what they were in the 90s.

I didn't have any Sega System as a kid, so all the Sega franchises have been brand new to me the last few years - there's some really great stuff in there!

Made a DIY hard case for my Virtual Boy

They're unfortunately getting to be pretty pricey things to track down nowadays. Emulation is a thing, but this is one of those quirky systems where it's almost impossible to really replicate the original experience. I've heard there's a really good emulation solution for the Oculus Go though, if you have access to one of those!

(And "red" is a big part of the experience lol)

I've been eyeing the collection on Switch! Just hard to justify when I have so many other ways to play those games already. My money is finite, unfortunately.

I do love the soundtracks though, and that also makes it tempting. I play a lot of theatrythm on both 3DS and Switch.

It's too hard to choose!

Advance Wars is always a solid choice, with the ability to create your own maps it never really gets old.

Metroid Fusion is one of my favorites too.

Drill Dozer is a blast to 100%, and WarioWare is fantastic any time you pick it up!

There are too many great games on this system for me to choose!

I'm still looking to grab Iridion II, it's supposed to be the superior game to the first. Love the music in Iridion 3D though 👍
