Metaverse - still one of the best jokes around

This one I slightly disagree with. I got my headset on a black friday and it was super cheap, but VR documentaries are friggin' amazing and I hope museums will invest heavily in it in the coming years.

Fully autonomous self driving cars - “Just around the corner” for the past 10 years

Definitely. Makes me feel good for people who make their living driving trucks.

SpaceX Shares Fall Below $150 Debut Price For First Time

While I wouldn't recommend investing in SpaceX (or any company contingent on Elon Musk's wild claims, which often prove to be unfounded), investing in general is volatile and share prices fluctuate daily.

What's wild is that SpaceX' satellite Internet product is actually really good, but the valuation of this company is insane and that retail investors have no voting rights is a huge red flag, and therefore it's important to stay the fuck away.

Socialists Are Setting the Agenda in New York City

I noticed they keep calling these voters 'Israel Critics' and not 'anti-genocide', even on Reuters and the AP.

It's blowing my mind to see even a handful of people who actually possess a conscience looking electable. I love this quote from Brad Lander: “Our party needs to admit that Joe Biden’s ‘hug Bibi’ strategy was a catastrophic mistake. We cannot keep paying for Netanyahu’s wars with our tax dollars. Democratic voters are saying this, loud and clear.”

Paying for Netanyahu's wars

That is the correct way to frame this. Remind the people being told that Donald doesn't care about their cost of living just where the value for their taxes is going.

You could try.

My wager is you'd be assassinated, but for a glorious and short time you'd be the most successful American president in history. There's a reason why Congress term-limited presidents after FDR. People want presidents that actually do good shit. It's just that we never get a choice between two good people ever.

What was your experience with cheating (romantic) like?

Reply in thread

My favorite thing about maintaining a youthful appearance into my 40's is that every person who was ever been a jerk to me because they weren't attracted to me is already turning into a gargoyle, and I'm over here doing pretty okay with my fey blood. (Except for a slightly weird eye that will eventually get really weird, thanks to a genetic condition.)

I've never cheated, but I was once made to feel like I had because I was in (what I thought was) a casual relationship with someone who, it seems, took it very seriously, and I was seeing other people at the same time. There was no intent to hide any of this, it just wasn't discussed, and therefore I thought it was all okay.

I felt awful. I'm now very clear on my intentions at every stage of coupling with another person, and it was a good lesson to learn at a young age.
