What is the meaning of life?

Reply in thread

You say it's improved your life and the lives of those adjacent to you, your family members, friends, and your kids' friends. But you haven't said its improved your kids life. I think that's what the OP was talking about. A being who doesn't exist doesn't desire to exist so making new life isn't doing them a favor and only exposes them to harm.

Court Orders Google to “Uninstall” Pirate IPTV App Sideloaded on Android Devices

What will be achieved once this is completed is that the installed app disappears and cannot be downloaded again, thus breaking the cycle of digital piracy

You can't break the cycle of digital piracy. Information wants to be free. Going against digital piracy is going against the grain of technology. But I guess if the copyright trolls got their way, there would be no general purpose computing.

I mean I'm not depressed and I love living, so I wouldn't be projecting depression on to others.

I agree that people can experience good things as well as harmful things, but it's not a risk worth taking. Giving birth is gambling with human life. You never know if someones life experience is going to be overwhelmingly positive or negative, but if they are never born, that's not even an issue to worry about.

See This Red Area? This Is *Sand*

Reply in thread

let the Red ones rot in their ancap dystopias?

Because there will be a lot of people in those areas who are not happy living under an ancap dystopia. Those states may even try to trap them there like Texas wants to do.

Imagine a couple moved to one of these ancap dystopias and have a kid. That kid turns out to be a big leftist and they hate not having rights.

We can't just forget about the other states and only care about some. At that point, you can consider the United States to have fallen.

I benchmarked 6 different metal USB sticks

Pro tip from me (a pro): Never buy flash drives that aren't one metal body. I have broke a 128GB flash drive simply by putting a tad bit too much pressure on it and misaligning the USB connector. It now doesn't work. I also injured one by misaligning the usb in the plastic case. It still works but isn't ideal.

Even if it is one plastic body, the plastic will chip away with insertions. My SanDisk Ultra Dual is in rough shape because of the weak plastic. Meanwhile my SanDisk Ultra Dual Luxe (the metal variant) is still pristine.

Also, don't buy cheap flash drives if you wish to use them frequently. They have terribly slow speeds even if they use a USB 3.0 interface. They might work okay as install media which you only need to use every few months or years, but they have painfully slow write speeds.

Edit: Yes, I know the metal drives have thermal issues. But thermal issues are better then losing the entire drive because the casing chips away and exposes the connector to things that eventually kill it.

Yep. Like uppercase and lowercase letters. Cause back when type was metal the uppercase letters were in the upper case. And the lowercase letters were in the lower drawers.

90s Classic

I mean... I would hope not. Artists work hard to make NFTs. You should respect that by downloading the image in full resolution and quality rather then screenshotting it.

The issue isn't the fact that the world is bad; it's the fact that there are evil people out there actively trying to make it worse (Trump, Putin, etc). I feel like it would be a lot easier to cope with a bad world compared to an evil one.
