Even the soldiers are questioning their mission in California

You know there is something wrong when our military soldiers are questioning why they are there. From the article:

"All but one of the six expressed reservations about the deployment. Several said they had raised objections themselves or knew someone who objected, either because they did not want to be involved in immigration crackdowns or felt the Trump administration had put them on the streets for what they described as a “fake mission.”

If our military is talking like this now, then the question begs to be asked. What are they going to do if we end up in a real military conflict? Are they going to question their commanding officers who got their orders from above them?

The way I see it, is that these soldiers are working on a more ethical and moral standpoint compared to the administration. Seriously what have we accomplished doing this? Farmers are plowing under crops because they are spoiling in the fields, also have you noticed the ones screaming that the immigrants are taking away our jobs aren't jumping up and trying to claim those jobs? I believe a lot of that is because they already have jobs and unemployed or underemployed people should take these jobs, where most of them are paid under the table and can barely afford to have a place to live without having another 10-15 people living in the same house.

Do they honestly think that these immigrants want to live with 10-15 other immigrants just to be able to afford rent, even if it is seasonal work?

Or how about the fact that these farmers are telling us, that most American citizens feel that kind of work is below them, and they only last at most a week because they can't handle the hard labor that is required. Plus, a lot of the immigrant workers aren't afraid to work in the heat for low pay.

The true problem isn't about the immigrants, but how the employers, or farmers, generally pay immigrants low wages so they can keep their costs down and make a bigger profit on slave labor practices. Immigrants aren't taking our jobs away, they are doing the jobs that almost 90% of Americans feel is below them.

Updates to how KAOS works

We had a meeting this morning on our LiveStream, yes we do this in a publicly viewed medium. As soon as I get the bugs worked out of the system, there will be replays of all out meetings up to this point as well as any podcasts that the founder has been in regarding KAOS.

The changes we made are as follows.

We updated our desctrption of what KAOS is, as soon as I can figure out a way to update those changes on the KAOS community here I will do so. In the mean time I have posted them here.

updated description

KAOS | Building a database of public opinion without censorship. Think of it as a layer of democracy above all nations and companies, or like a worldwide human union. Make KAOS, find order, resist control.

The KAOS forum has been changed so that you cannot reply to an opinion someone else makes. This makes every post an opinion, There will be no crossposting someone elses opinion.(aka no replying to other posts). You will be able to edit your own post if you so desire or need to. The point behind this is to help mitigate doxxing and hate speech among other possible threats toward the original opinion maker.

Only the site administrator has access to IP Address of the poster, this is strictly for the use of banning by IP Address if we have to.

We have made the site where you have to be a registered user to make posts. This was after further discussion which the Brian, our founder, had brought up. He figures that registered users would have a heavier weight in searches and polls. So as of today July, 6th 2025 to post you have to be a registered user. I am currently looking at a way to allow anonymous posting as a registered user if that would be wanted.

If you have any other suggestions or requests please let me know so we can look into these things.

KAOS = Knowledge As Our Saviour

KAOS is a way for your voice to be heard about ANY current event. We primarily use our website for this endeavour. However, we also are willing to have good conversations here, whether it's about AI, Government or international issues, We want your voice to be heard. There will be absolutely no Doxxing or CSAM allowed, regardless of location.

This is a sister account to r/KAOSnow on Reddit.

Help us get up and running, ask your questions or state your opinions, all we ask is that you are straight forward with what your opinion is about, otherwise than that, we censor nothing, except what is required by law, on our actual website, here on Lemmy I have to abide by the rules of the Instance I'm on.

ETA: Just because there is no censorship, within law, does not mean we do not have any moderation. Moderation does not mean censorship. Moderation is the process of making sure that rules are being followed as well as governmental laws.

Welcome to KAOS

KAOS = Knowledge As Our Saviour.

KAOS is an apolitical group created with the intent to allow everyone to have a voice by their opinions in a searchable database. We don't interfere with posts, unless it is made in an attempt of doxxing or CSAM.

You can make your opinion anonymously or if you want you can join KAOS, be part of the managing of KAOS and the KAOSnow.com website. And in the future there could be other benefits that have yet to be determined, although a form of UBI or dividend is hoped for. Membership IS and WILL always be free for individual users.

We are making a database of opinions that are searchable by everyone. Hence the reason we allow anonymous posting. But by all means use this as way to start getting your voice heard, there is also a ranking system being installed to help you see how popular your opinion is as well as others. State your opinion on anything going on in the world and have access to other viewpoints.

All opinions made on the website are automatically backed by the knowledge of copyright ownership, to that end we use Open Source Software for the website and we are transparent with all expenses as well as the process we are using to build the system.

Please visit www.kaosnow.com to get a better understanding of KAOS as explained by our founder.

You can follow our process from our youtube channel www.youtube.com/@KAOSInstitution. Please feel free to subscribe you may even be brought into the chat with us live during our livestream. Feel free to ask questions.

Above all else:

MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!!!!

Engagement with community

Hey everyone, just wanted to touch base with y’all. I’m really a little worried about our community.

As of this writing we have 295 members, but we only have 11 posts, including this one. We really need to get some quality posting going on here.

So this is what I was thinking, let’s start a mega thread of conversations around Linux in general. I would like to see what we can get going here. Also please talk to your friends that are on here and invite them to the group.

I know a lot of us, myself included, tend to just lurk until something pops up for us to interact with. I’m asking everyone here to help interact with our community. We aren’t just a help desk here, we can also have fun conversations.

Smothered boneless pork chops

Like the title says. Smothered boneless pork chops and green beans for dinner. So simple and inexpensive to make.

In a large cast iron pan add oil on medium high heat and sautee a small onion in the pan once hot, light smoking from oil. When the onion is almost finished add 1 teaspoon minced garlic. Remove from pan when garlic is blackened. Place pork chops seasoned with sea salt and oregano in pan and sear for 5 mins per side, flipping twice. While pork chops are cooking make a slurry of 1 1/4 cups of milk and 2 teaspoons of corn starch.

Reduce heat to medium low, remove pork chops and set aside. Add milk with corn starch to pan and begin thickening, about 1 minute or so. Add onions and blackened garlic to sauce and mix to reheat onions. Place pork chops back in pan and cover with sauce, let simmer 5 minutes. Serve with side of choice and dinner roll if desired. Enjoy.

Tonight dinner made from scratch pizza

This is a delicious pizza. It’s got homemade Italian pork sausage, pepperoni, green peppers and bacon.

Basically a pork lovers pizza with freshly chopped green peppers. I put mozzarella cheese on the pizza sauce. Chopped up some fresh green pepper, then the pepperoni and sausage followed by Colby jack cheese and bacon bits. Bake for 18 minutes at 450 degrees (F). I am also including the recipe for the crust below.

1 cup hot water (105-110 degrees F)

1 TBSP active yeast (not rapid rise)

1 TBSP granulated white sugar

3 -3 1/2 cups all purpose flour ( do not use self rising)

1 TBSP olive oil ( you can use vegetable oil if you want)

1 tsp salt

In a large mixing bowl add yeast and sugar then add water. Allow yeast to activate, it will look foamy, about 5 to 10 mins. Add oil salt and flour, mix with a spoon until a lightly firm dough all forms. Use hands to knead the ball until not sticky, add flour if needed. You can use right away or if you want you can let it rise 10 to 20 minutes. Put flour on you counter top and press out by hand until almost the size of your pan. Transfer to baking pan stretching to the correct size. Add sauce and toppings.

This will make 2 thin crust pizzas or 1 hand tossed/thin pan crust pizza.

Let sit 5 minutes after coming out of oven, cut and enjoy.

Feature request

Inn B love the app, been using it since the original beta came out on test flight.

My feature request is to either mark everything in the inbox as read, or have it automatically moved to the all section in the inbox automatically after reading and closing the inbox to go back to the main feed.

In the image below, none of these comments need replying to by me from my comment, but to clear them I have to login into Lemmy from my computer to mark them as such.

Before anyone asks why not use the phone browser, for some reason I can’t login to Lemmy on any of my phones mobile browsers. This has been brought to the attention of Lemmy devs via bug report.
