The red is a bit of a different breed yeah; specifically a nastier form of fungus that causes some pretty horrible side effects, people reporting seeing their worst thoughts come back for em. The superstitious often link it to demonic activity but nobody's been able to confirm or deny that one and the locals usually don't like to venture up there either or.

Nobody in the mainland knows for sure so it's on the enigmatic side. Some are thinking either magic or else maybe a particularly sizable sky island nestled above in an awkward spot that covers the island in shadows but it's not something anyone in Tanzanite has a concrete answer for given it's time period.

The waters nearby do glow bioluminescent; akin to some real life cases of something like it in Puerto Rico, so....probably should be careful drinking water there unless you're either using some heavy filters or else going deep underground to find untapped aquifers.
