Water valve box cap dislodging is what broke Carlos' car

First of all, why with all the TV production there, could the telecast not get a single live shot of the section in question? It wasn't until 25+ minutes after red flag they showed this picture.

Thanks for pic and live link... It's exactly what you'd expect, 20 dudes standing around watching one dude look at the hole scratching his head... I feel bad for anyone that actually paid to go to see FP 1/2.

From a purely observational standpoint, Zhou had a terrible start off the line. He was getting passed from those behind him; I think he was still accelerating / maneuvering to get position when the pack was braking for the turn.

Advertising banners sticking in cars 'shouldn't happen in F1' - Norris

I like that different tracks have uniquely different or more exacerbated elements like sand, wind, or even where tire rubber is with respect to the racing line. Monaco's trait is that qualification is incredibly important, someone starting p6 at Monaco has significantly less chance of winning than most any other race.

Having anything impact the track that is not unique to it is just a poor showing. Signs, street pipe covers, etc. should never be a thing of mention. The current impact of them is random and entirely nothing can be done by the teams to not be randomly succumbed to. While the ongoings of the track are not controlled, they are controlled to an extent, rules should be there to create a more controlled environment both from a setup and during race context such that altogether previously unseen circumstances do not put one out of the race. This sport has been on for many years, and has moved significantly forward. That examples where signage can be in a place that is torn off and end up in vehicles or even that tear offs can be thrown out at random and again end up in vehicles can be listed and all each with seemingly basic answers, it does beg the question who is running the show and what are they on about.

Norris is spot on.

PLEASE - No result spoilers

What were you expecting to see here if not "spoilers" of the race posted as it went on. Whether highlights or winner, if you don't want to know you shouldn't get on.

That said, I would like to see more lively community discussion (before, during, and after the race) and saying "just don't come here" isn't very welcoming either.

I liked the new tyre rules for this weekend's qualifying...

If the primary goal of the setup is to be more economical with tires brought, I think this could still be accomplished with the old format.

Yes we saw how everyone ran on the same tires at the same time, it personally did nothing to make FP more interesting, if anything it caused more backup of cars waiting to try and time the end just right. Less strategy, more luck. Lastly, because of this backup, it also penalizes those who do go out earlier because they have to try and finish their lap around a train.

Again, if the goal is fewer tires used then just reduce their allotment.
