Self-discovery vent/advice/support thingy? Idk?

Mia Violet's memoir is called "Yes, you are trans enough." I was maybe 4+ months on HRT when I read it, and it really helped me to corroborate my feelings focus on what was most important to me in my transition.

There are other great memoirs out there but that was the one that hit me the most.

The other thing that super helped me figure things out was therapy.

I wish you peace in your journey of self discovery. It can be a very daunting thing to face.

WomensStuff weekend positivity...What have you done that would impress your five-year-old self?

I visited Russia with my high school band 2 years before the wall came down, and went to pushkin square to get a cool authentic Russian music on vinyl and inadvertantly bought a Jethro Tull album because i don't speak Russian. I mean, it was a cool looking guy with a flute on the cover! I had only heard their hits on the radio at that time and hadnt ever seen their album covers 😂

I have it on good authority that was a load bearing album and that is why the wall fell 2 years later. Lack of Tull.

Boobs

Boobs are the best. Thanks for sharing your experiences! Second puberty is a long process so it is really neat when we notice positive changes. Weeeeeeeee

That literal egg I painted back in therapy, years before understanding who I am

That is so incredible and the art is very moving. Thanks so much for showing it and sharing the story!

Forgive me for using this space to share a story of a very similar experience I had yesterday.

The preamble is that I have to move out soon due to a transphobic unsupportive parent who i have been caregiver to for the last 10 years. In the past 6 weeks I have had to condense my entire life into small piles so that i can pack, which means finally sorting through all my papers and shredding stuff. But one huge benefit is that i am finally able to collect all the poetry and lyrics that i wrote from the time when I was a kid up until now.

Yesterday I found a song I wrote when I was 17. The title was "Transitions" and it hit me so hard. I had no idea about actual transgender people other than mostly shitty media stereotypes. As i read the lyrics i started to freak out. There were some strong dysphoria vibes coming through. And i had even added chord notations to it so i must have already started teaching myself guitar by then.

I just had to go grab my guitar and try and play it. I had no idea what the original melody was but i made it work. It absolutely floored me that i keep finding evidence like this of what i was going through and these lyrics so far are the oldest physical evidence i have found that i was struggling with gender concepts and didn't know why. And the glaringly mind boggling thing is that I somehow nailed that title. Transitions.

I am so glad you were able to make that kind of connection with your art. It is mind blowing how the brain works.

I need someone to tell me it's okay to come out via email

I came out via email to the majority of the folks that i told. Of the people that replied to that email, only 1 family member was negative... He said that what i was doing was "gutsy", said he would use my new name but not my pronouns. So far i havn't had to deal with that person and i made a decision at that time not to respond. Unfortunately he may show up here next month with his siblings. The only plan i can think of is to avoid confronting him unless he makes a huge deal out of misgendering me. At least his siblings make a half assed attempt. Family can be the worst people wrt transitioning sadly.

But it was way easier dealing with that rejection because it wasn't to my face. And who knows, maybe he changed his mind. Lol.

Tldr email good. I used a text message for a close friend i hadnt spoken with in years and now we are in regular contact again and she has been so crucial and very supportive.

I hope that however you decide to come out that you will find those who will fully be an ally.
