U.S. imposes 50% tariffs on $20 billion worth of Canadian products. Canada will impose retaliatory tariffs
Reply in thread
After the Supreme Court struck down much of Trump's earlier tariff program in February, the administration turned to other legal authorities. For Canada, Trump invoked Section 338 of the Tariff Act of 1930, a rarely used Depression-era provision allowing tariffs of up to 50% against countries deemed to discriminate against U.S. businesses.
The administration has a full time team of lawyers grepping every corner of the Federal code to justify anything they do with obscure law and bullshit arguments.

When was Delta cheap? I live near a fortress hub and it’s $500+ to fly anywhere. Maybe I was one of the 25% pricing test

Nebraska's largest school district asks police to stop using electric shock gloves on students
Reply in thread
They do not when it comes to things like batons and shotguns and whatever else they carry in their vehicle.
That is what I was originally replied to. My point is if you don’t trust an officer to wield it, don’t supply them with it.

Got it you hate cops and have unrealistic ideas about how to regulate them. I think my original comment alluded to that pretty well.

I thought that a platform often interested in self hosting would loathe the idea of remotely activated equipment that’s often getting used in the moment, like a remotely activated baton (lol).
My take is that you either trust it with people in the field or you don’t.

Insane comment. What is the equipment even necessary for with that limited access?
Perhaps that is your point, but it might as well be people deployed from a location rather than onsite personnel.

Mamdani won a mayoral primary, hasn’t even been elected yet and the hype on all sides is enormous.

County Jail on charges of resisting arrest and battery. Afterward, he was released "still wearing nothing but his underwear and a disposable hospital outfit; he had no wallet, phone or money," the complaint states. "He did not remember Alice's phone number in the jail and they would not help him contact her, so he walked in his hospital slippers about a half mile to a gas station," where workers helped him call a taxi.
I’m familiar with the case but not this detail. Seriously, fuck these thugs.

Kentucky police fatally shoot man while serving warrant at wrong home
Killing people during a search warrant needs to be considered an unacceptable criminal failure.
Like what is the fucking hurry to pull this shit in the middle of night while people are sleeping? You know who they are and where they live. Study their habits and grab them when they exit the house.
Repo drivers do the opposite all the time without issue.
